Securing Kuwait's Vital Operational Sectors

Process Safety leaders and HSE Experts from the region will gather at one place with a common goal of minimizing accidents in the process industries.

The market for Global Process Safety Systems in the Oil and Gas industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.03% over the period 2015-2019 as forecasted by analysts. Process industries such as Oil & Gas, Refining, Chemical and Power are the ones who use safety systems. Increased demand for safety systems and need for replacement of old systems with new ones as these industries have to follow new safety regulations and adopt stringent standards to avoid major accidents are the major contributing factors for this market growth.

Industries make use of these safety systems to improve operational efficiency, maximize production uptime, control downtime and retain compliance. Necessary precautions taken to stop the fire that erupted recently resulted in no casualties at Kuwait Oil Refiner(Source : Gulf News). We all know that process safety incidents like this can have catastrophic effects and can result in multiple injuries and fatalities, as well as substantial economic, property, and environmental damage.

A chemical accident which occurred in 2000 in Kuwait with hydrocarbons gas causing atleast 50 casualties triggered an investigation by the Kuwaiti Parliament and the Ministry of Oil. Both organizations concluded that the company had to develop robust fire and safety systems. Process safety, thus gained more importance in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical industries in Kuwait. Process Safety Conference, set to take place in Kuwait from 16 - 17 February 2016, will focus on securing Kuwait's vital operational sectors.

Conference highlight will include case studies from Kuwait Oil Company, Saudi Petrochemical
Company Sadaf , Emirates National Oil Company Limited , Petrochemical Industries Company and Bahrain Petroleum Company. Other conference highlights include mini workshops on process safety metrics for instrumented systems, process safety management in upstream oil and gas industries, refineries and petrochemical industries and incident investigation taproot impact.
