ONE MONTH TO GO TO AFRICA ENERGY INDABA WITH EXCITING SIDE EVENTS

The prestigious event, that draws heavyweights from across the continent and globally, will be hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre, the heart of the African business hub, from 21st – 22nd February 2017. Attracting energy experts and enthusiasts from across South Africa and the continent, the 2017 African energy landscape will be debated and decided between government and private sector officials.

Energy is a prerequisite for sustainable economic growth in Africa and has been at the forefront of discussions on Africa reaching and maximising its growth potential. Without reliable and continuous access to energy, Africas most vulnerable remain disempowered and disenfranchised.

Africas premier energy event, the Africa Energy Indaba (AEI), brings together businesses, organisations and leaders that are committed to powering Africa and are looking for energy solutions across the oil and gas, renewables, nuclear, coal, hydro, biothermal and biomass sectors in Africa.

The event also enjoys strategic partnerships with the South African National Energy Association (SANEA) and the African Unions NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA). With the support of these key players, Energy Indabas status is elevated locally as well as globally above other energy events. In addition it is the only major energy event hosted on the continent, organised by Africans, for the benefit of Africa!

The annual "Africa Energy Indaba Week" provides leading content, a gathering of energy leaders and the opportunity to meet movers and shakers to do energy deals! The 2-day energy conference is complemented by an exhibition as well as a number of exciting side events.
The side events include:
Africa Gas Forum
The 2nd Africa Gas Forum will address Africas oil and gas potential which will grow significantly over the next two decades, driven by population growth, urbanisation and the emergence of a wealthier middle class on the continent. Africa is endowed with natural resources that are changing the global energy landscape with six of the top 10 global discoveries in the oil and gas sector in 2013 being made in Africa. The event takes place on Monday 20th February 2017.

This event takes place on Monday 20th February 2017.
Nuclear Forum
The 7th Nuclear Forum will discuss the development of the nuclear build programme in South Africa and the opportunity for localisation, skills development and access to business opportunities linked to the planned build programme. In addition, the discussions will explore opportunities to develop a nuclear build programme in Africa.
IPP & PPA Conference
2017 promises to be another active year for independent power producers and energy projects throughout the sub-Saharan Africa region and across various technologies. There is international investor focus on IPPs due to the power shortages and load shedding in the region and the increasing demand for energy amongst the regions growing economies. Opportunities for projects using both renewable and thermal technologies are expanding. The 4th Independent Power Producers and Power Purchase Agreements Conference (IPP & PPA Conference) will once again take place alongside the annual Africa Energy Indaba conference in Johannesburg on Thursday 23rd February as an official side event. This event takes place on Thursday 23rd February 2017.
