In addition to the original ST-001, we have added the ST-055 – our 5.5” wide version – which has been selling well in the Northeast. Installers there are setting their racking to create a protection width that the ST-055 fits perfectly, no cutting, less labor.

Talking SPI 2017 with Solatrim

Your company will be exhibiting at SPI 2017, what is it that makes this an important event for your company?

Every year we’ve exhibited at SPI marked a big step forward in our evolution. In 2015, we were just a small startup with an idea for a product that would protect residential solar. Today, our sales volume and market penetration figures indicate we’re on our way to becoming standard equipment for rooftop installers.

What can a visitor to your booth expect to see this year?

We like to keep it simple. There will be a new display with our two product sizes in place, but for the most part, we’ll focus on interacting with interested visitors and stating the 1-2-3-4 of SolaTrim’s Value Proposition: Close more deals; Add a margin upsell product; Raise customer satisfaction; Slash O&M costs.

Any new products you will be introducing?

Yes. In addition to the original ST-001, we have added the ST-055 – our 5.5” wide version – which has been selling well in the Northeast. Installers there are setting their racking to create a protection width that the ST-055 fits perfectly, no cutting, less labor.

This fall, we will be adding the ST-045 as well – our 4.5” version. Installers will be able to  pick the size that best fits their installation specs.

When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see?

I tend to look at new modules, to see how designs are changing. Our product adheres to solar panel frames, so I would want to know if a configuration is coming we’ll need to adjust to.

Solar Power International has many educational sessions, is your company involved in any of them this year?

No, not at this time. We do a fair amount of education at our booth with information about the vulnerability of rooftop systems and how SolaTrim adds protection and completes the installation aesthetically.

When you book a booth for a tradeshow like this what are your expectations and what does your company hope to accomplish at the event?

I like the fact that the whole global solar community is in the building and walking by our little booth. We meet hundreds of people during the show, and I expect this year will be the same. Our appointment calendar is usually pretty booked.

At this particular show, I will also be meeting with delegations from Australia, the UK, Germany and Mexico. Businesses from these countries have expressed interest in SolaTrim, so we are taking the next steps in entering these markets and establishing ourselves as a global company, Plus, we are always looking to capture additional US customers as well. Last year, we closed a healthy piece of business at SPI. We expect to do it again this year.
