ACORE to Sponsor and Exhibit at GreenDC Week Event to Educate DC Citizens on Promotion of Renewable Energy

ACORE will be exhibiting its Phase II program for putting renewable energy solutions into use in everyday society, with benefits for energy supply, national security, economic growth, investment, jobs, a cleaner environment, reduced risk of climate change, and improved health.

Washington, DC - The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) announced today that it is sponsoring and exhibiting at GreenDC Week, a week long event being hosted by the D.C. Energy Office's Environmental Sustainable Solutions (ESS) to promote the wise use of natural resources and provide DC employees and DC residents with a healthier environment.


ACORE will be exhibiting its Phase II program for putting renewable energy solutions into use in everyday society, with benefits for energy supply, national security, economic growth, investment, jobs, a cleaner environment, reduced risk of climate change, and improved health.

ACORE will be joining co-sponsors such as the National Hydrogen Association, United Nations Environment Program, Department of Health, Metro, General Motors, Dell, Inc., FlexCar, ZipCar, George Washington University, Environmental Protection Agency, Center for Clean Air Policy, American Lung Association, National Asthma Society, and other air quality-related agencies in the District to promote renewable sources of energy and their feasibility in Washington, DC.

Additional attractions will include General Motors running a Ride & Drive of two hydrogen-fueled vehicles on Tuesday, April 19th, and FlexCar and Zipcar having alternative fuel vehicles to display on Wednesday, April 20th. "Speaking for our entire leadership, ACORE is proud to join Mayor Anthony Williams, the DC government, and countless other sponsors in promoting Phase II through the showcasing and jump starting of the GreenDC Week," said Michael Eckhart, President of ACORE.

The purpose of GreenDC Week is to provide the residents of the District of Columbia with an opportunity to experience and be exposed to a broad range of information addressing environment, energy, conservation, public health and safety issues that are faced by D.C. residents on a daily basis.

The event will be hosted at various locations throughout the city and each day of the week has a theme. The projected times for all events will be from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Invitees to the variety of events will include representatives from the Executive Office of the Mayor, City Council members, Members of the Environmental Community, Federal and Local Agency heads, District residents, and countless visitors to the District of Columbia.
