- Power Slope Targeting Optimizes Power Output for DC Generators -
Calgary Alberta, Canada - September 28, 2006 - Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd ("Sustainable Energy" - TSXV: "STG") that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a new patent on a new control logic concept developed by the Company for optimizing performance of fuel cell power modules and other similar DC generators.
Power Slope Targeting will simplify the control of fuel cell systems by reducing measurement requirements and improve performance by allowing feed-back control of fuel flow based on measured power output.
"This new approach, which focuses on optimizing the system integration and performance of the fuel cell stack, has the potential significantly reduce the cost of the fuel cell's balance of plant, and should lead to more rapid commercialization of fuel cell power modules," said Brent Harris, P. Sustainable has been supplying its patented low-voltage/high-current inverters to leading fuel cell developers for several years, and the Company has recently launched its SUNERGY line of inverters for solar and small wind power systems, using the same power electronics platform refined and proven in the fuel cell environment. The faster, more stable control loops which enable the power slope targeting also enable faster, more productive maximum power point tracking, and higher energy yields for small wind turbines in gusty conditions.
