EnerWorks solar thermal technology a part of energy-efficient, award-winning home

Ontario's "most outstanding production-built home" - according to the Ontario Home Builder Association - comes equipped with the EnerWorks solar water heating appliance, which includes solar collector panels and energy pack.

Recently recognized by the OHBA, Doug Tarry Homes Ltd. of St. Thomas received the award in the one-storey, up to 1,900 square feet category for their Lambert Home model.

With EnerWorks solar thermal water heating system, roof mounted solar panels, which resemble skylights, collect the sun's energy and, through a heat exchanger attached to the home's water heater, provide an average of 50% of the annual domestic water heating required by home owners. This translates to real economic savings on their utility bills and a significant reduction in green house gas emissions.

"In the summer, 80% or more of the home owner's hot water needs will be met by the solar thermal system," says Berry.

The home meets Energy Star energy efficiency performance levels.
