Cenex to host 'Biomethane for Transport' conference

Promoting biomethane as an integrated environmental solution

Devonport House, Greenwich, Monday, 3rd March 2008

Loughborough, 19 Feb 2008 - Cenex, the UK's national centre of excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, is hosting a one-day conference, 'Biomethane for Transport', at Devonport House, Greenwich, London, on Monday 3rd March.

In partnership with the Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technology Knowledge Transfer Network, the Natural Gas Vehicle Association (NGVA) and the Environmental Protection UK (EPUK), the conference is a follow-up to last year's successful 'Naturally Gas' event held in Loughborough. The event will launch the 'Biomethane Resource Toolkit', a unique collection of information and tools to help organisations assess the value of biomethane projects and applications.

Biomethane offers a unique opportunity to integrate waste-management solutions with the production and use of a clean-burning, low carbon transport fuel. The conference offers presentations on best practise from the UK beyond, insights on the gas vehicle market, expertise in the production of biomethane and details of assistance available for those considering biomethane projects. The key discussions will focus on implications of the King Review for the UK automotive industry, new developments in the biomethane market vehicle and waste management and hydrogen technologies from speakers from a wide spectrum of low-carbon and transport industries as well as government and local authority policy advisors.
Robert Evans, CEO of Cenex says of the conference: "This event represents an unprecedented opportunity for opinion formers and decision makers in both the public and private sectors to meet and network with a wide range of contacts involved in the production and use of biomethane, both informally and through our expert panel sessions.''

The event marks the first anniversary of 'Biomethane for Transport, a networking community of organisations from the private and public sectors with interests in the development of biomethane as a road transport fuel. The conference and the community are sponsored by the Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technology Knowledge Transfer Network (www.lowcarbonfuelcellktn.org.uk) as part of its aim of promoting communication and knowledge transfer between the many organisations interested in low carbon road transport.

More information on the conference can be found at: www.cenex.co.uk/news-industryevents.asp. Companies are welcome to join the forum at the delegate fee of £80 for EPUK and NGVA members and £100 for non-members.
