VERTEGY DELIVERS MISSOURI'S FIRST GREEN CAMPUS

Vertegy has been recognized with helping to deliver Missouri's first LEED Certified college campus. The firm was recently notified that the St. Louis Community College Campus in Wildwood, Mo., on which the company served as LEED consultant, was awarded LEED Gold certification by the USGBC.

ST. LOUIS, March 19, 2008… Already credited with leading the sustainable design effort for the first LEED Certified educational facility in Wisconsin, St. Louis-based Vertegy has now been recognized with helping to deliver Missouri's first LEED Certified college campus. The sustainable consulting firm was recently notified that the St. Louis Community College Campus in Wildwood, Mo., on which the firm served as LEED consultant, was awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The new 66-acre campus consists of a 73,000-square-foot building equipped to serve up to 2,500 students with "smart classroom" technologies and expansive daylighting and views from the classrooms, offices and commons. The facility also features a multipurpose room for college and community activities, recharging stations for electric/hybrid vehicles, water conserving fixtures and a large pond for storm water retention and treatment. In addition, Vertegy's consulting services helped the project divert over 95 percent of construction waste from local landfills.

As LEED consultant to the construction management firm L.A. Schaefer Construction Co., Inc., Vertegy provided site personnel training, as well as preparation and implementation of management plans for LEED design and construction integration. Vertegy also served as the LEED consultant to the owner, providing coordination and management of the LEED submission documentation for certification.

"We're delighted to have been such an integral part of the team that worked on this project and to have played a role in helping the leadership at the Community College create the greenest college campus in the state," noted Thomas Taylor, general manager of Vertegy. "It will prove to be an inspiring learning environment in many ways."

Founded in February 2005, Vertegy provides clients with design, procurement and construction consulting services for green and sustainable facilities. One of the key ways Vertegy serves clients is by helping them gain certification for their projects from various nationally and internationally recognized certification bodies, such as the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), which provides LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification. Vertegy — which is derived from combining the Latin root for green and strategy — is based in St. Louis at the new LEED Platinum-certified Alberici headquarters.
