New campaign to make it easier for NSW and Victorian residents to install solar hot water

Australian Minister for the Environment, the Hon. Peter Garrett, has helped launch a new campaign that will make it much easier for NSW and Victorian households to install solar hot water systems.

Australian Minister for the Environment, the Hon. Peter Garrett, has helped launch a new campaign that will make it much easier for NSW and Victorian households to install solar hot water systems. The new initiative will see families dramatically reduce their carbon footprints and save up to 30 per cent on their energy bills.

The launch kicks of Easy Being Green's You Can Afford to Save the Planet campaign, which involves supplying cutting-edge solar hot water systems at no direct cost for eligible households and a six-month interest free 'green loans' for installation costs.

"Many families can't afford to fork out large sums of money upfront for solar hot water systems - it's simply too expensive," said Easy Being Green Managing Director Andrew Randall.

"But Easy Being Green is changing this - starting today.

"With the range of government rebates on offer, Easy Being Green can now offer you a solar hot water system that you'll be able to claim back in full. And to help with upfront installation costs and the time it takes to process rebates, we've joined forces with ANZ Bank to offer a six-month interest-free 'green loan'.

"Australia is one of the sunniest countries in the world, but only around five per cent of households have solar hot water technology installed.

"By installing a solar hot water system, you can dramatically reduce your carbon footprint and reliance on unclean power. Changing to solar hot water could see your household reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by up to four tonnes a year.

"Additionally, households with solar hot water systems installed typically save between $300 - $700 on their energy bills each year."

Mr Randall said Easy Being Green systems use evacuated tube solar technology, which is significantly more advanced than traditional flat solar panels.

"In fact, it's been proven to generate up to 40 per cent more energy than flat panels - which means more energy for your needs," he said.
