The City of St. Jean sur Richelieu has chosen solar LED lighting technology

The City of St. Jean sur Richelieu has chosen solar LED lighting technology to promote energy conservation while producing exceptional light quality with low operating costs.

Montreal, November 2008 — Matrix Energy Inc, eastern Canada's largest supplier of energy efficiency and renewable energy products and systems, announces that it has designed and supplied an autonomous solar photovoltaic (PV) system to power LED Floodlights to the City of St. Jean sur Richelieu in the Province of Quebec.

Designed to perform for more than 50,000 hours, Matrix Energy's new generation LED Floodlights will provide the City's Welcome sign with ample light without generating light pollution or radiating excessive heat. Each LED Floodlight offers standard light output of 1700 lumens consuming only 12W of power!
LED Floodlights are the best option for cities looking for performance at a low cost because of their design, performance attributes and energy savings. The City of St. Jean sur Richelieu project is an example of how Municipalities are leading the way in the specification and purchase of energy-efficient lighting solutions. "I hope the example Welcome Sign in St. Jean sur Richelieu will get the ball rolling for all towns and applications to expand clean renewable energy", said Csaba Kiss of Solar Energy Kiss, Matrix Energy's installation partner on the project.
LED Lighting systems play a crucial role in the global fight to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions and are a way amongst others to promote energy conservation at low cost. "The decision taken by our City to install a solar LED lighting system was in keeping with our agenda of sustainable development", said Pierre Lepitre of the City of St. Jean sur Richelieu.
Matrix Energy's LED Floodlights are available in 12 or 36 Watt at 12VDC with 60 or 100 degree beam spread available, and can be powered by Stand Alone solar PV and/or wind energy systems.

LG Solar Unveils NeON R with Enhanced Aesthetics and Energy Savings

The NeON R module features "Back Contact" cell technology delivering an entirely black panel that is aesthetically pleasing and energy efficient. The cell's seamless, surface blends perfectly into nearly all rooftop designs while the module's electrodes are positioned on the rear of the cell. Using LG's N-type cell structure, the panels produce 365W of energy, up to 7.3kWp, compared to 5.8kWp of the p-type cell. The module's new design minimizes LID, thereby delivering a longer lifespan and increased energy output.
