HOUSTON, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Integrated Electrical Services (Nasdaq: IESC) (www.ies-co.com), a leading national provider of electrical and communications services, has established itself as a key part of the value chain as the burgeoning solar power market continues to deploy renewable energy resources to increase efficiency, reduce costs and lessen environmental impact. The company is an official exhibitor at Solar Power International 2009 in Anaheim, Calif. Oct. 27-29.

IES representatives will be available in Booth 3067 to explain the company's full-spectrum of solar services and credentials during the Solar Power International 2009 Conference and Expo. With more than 900 exhibitors and 22,000 attendees, the event is the largest gathering of solar industry participants in North America.

"The generation and use of green, renewable energy will provide competitive advantages all across the economic spectrum," said Michael Caliel, president and chief executive officer for IES. "As an abundant and clean energy source, Solar Power offers significant economic benefit for both new and existing construction. The reliance on Solar Power will only continue to grow in importance and our experience as one of the nation's largest electrical and communications contractors for the commercial, industrial and residential markets positions us well to help our clients deploy, maintain and support these new technologies."

With more than 600 active electrical and communications projects and 4,000+ employees all across the nation, IES is well versed on the complexities of electrical design and installation from a variety of power sources, including both fossil and renewable sources. With experience from wind farms to residential standby power to smart grid and meter deployment, IES technicians handle every day the technical and sophisticated requirements presented by cutting-edge renewable technologies.
"One of our key strengths is our broad market coverage," continued Caliel.

"From a solar perspective, we're currently building a solar residential neighborhood in Nevada, a healthcare campus in New Jersey powered by industrial solar arrays, and we recently helped build a solar-powered commercial distribution center in Connecticut. We're also teaming with key solar equipment and technology providers such as Visible Light Solar Technologies to help new and existing facilities install more energy efficient lighting and fixtures."

IES has a long history of providing award-winning electrical services for a variety of market sectors. With grid-tied solar capacity growing by nearly 60 percent in 2008, the company has seen an increase in demand for its safe and reliable services as the market continues to implement newer technologies. A combination of technology improvements, the desire for clean energy, Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) and federal, state and local incentives augur well for continued strong growth, even in a down economy.

Commercial

IES installed the solar panels and all supporting electrical systems for a 570-kilowatt (KW) solar array on the roof of a new warehouse distribution facility in South Windsor, CT. The system includes 2,641 solar panels and is expected to produce approximately 14 percent of the facility's annual electricity demand. The project is complete.

Industrial

Working with a worldwide energy development/construction company and an international general contractor, IES is installing the solar panels and all supporting electrical systems for a healthcare corporate campus in New Jersey. The system comprises a 1.8 megawatt (MW) ground-mount fixed tilt solar photovoltaic array that includes a racking system, 25,000 modules, underground DC collections, Inverters and AC feeders. The system will be constructed on nearly 14 acres of the healthcare system's campus. The project is ongoing.

Residential

IES is working with a national homebuilder to provide electrical contracting services for a 185-unit Solar Neighborhood in Nevada. IES is installing all supporting electrical systems for the homes in the neighborhood, including the rooftop solar panel array. The system uses a high efficiency solar cell to convert sunlight, an inverter to create electricity, smart meters connected to the grid and constant monitoring to lower electric consumption. The project represents the first residential development in the Southwest portion of the United States to provide as standard a combination of solar power, LEED certification and Environments For Living (EFL) building methods. The project is ongoing.
