SANYO's eneloop bike donation to CCSE further demonstrates company's commitment to the adoption of sustainable transportation and lifestyle choices.
SAN DIEGO, CA, March 3, 2010 - SANYO North America Corporation (SANYO), a subsidiary of and the North American regional headquarters of SANYO Electric Co., Ltd., based in San Diego, announces that it has donated its award-winning eneloop bike ‘Synergetic Hybrid Bicycle' to the California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE), an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that helps residents, businesses and public agencies save energy, reduce grid demand and generate their own power through a variety of rebate, technical assistance and education programs.
"SANYO's eneloop bike serves as a valuable educational tool for helping CCSE demonstrate to the public different ways to adopt clean and efficient energy technologies and practices," said Irene Stillings, executive director of CCSE.
Through SANYO North America's continued partnership with CCSE since 2008, both organizations aim to help create a more sustainable future through public education, awareness and use of renewable energy sources, such as SANYO's environmental solutions, including its eneloop bike ‘Synergetic Hybrid Bicycle', eneloop rechargeable batteries, and HIT® solar panels and photovoltaic systems. This announcement comes shortly after SANYO's recent collaboration with CCSE to replace all dry cell battery supplies at the CCSE headquarters in San Diego with SANYO's eneloop rechargeable batteries, demonstrating the use of rechargeable batteries as a viable, alternative electricity source.
"SANYO's donation of the eneloop bike ‘Synergetic Hybrid Bicycle' is an important example of how electric-hybrid transportation can be used and is being used to help reduce our dependence on depleting natural resources, such as oil and natural gas," said Mr. Masami Murata, President of SANYO North America Corporation. "Based on our eneloop rechargeable battery technology, the eneloop bike ‘Synergetic Hybrid Bicycle' embodies SANYO's commitment to both sustainable business and the environment and is a true representation of the next generation of sustainable transportation."
