Largest Rooftop Solar Installation in Pacific Northwest to use PV Powered Inverters

PV Powered, Inc. announces that its commercial inverters are being installed in a new 2.4 MW project in Portland, Ore., the largest rooftop solar project in the Pacific Northwest. The project will cover approx. 900,000 sf with innovative thin-film solar panels from Advanced Green Technologies.

Bend, ORE. - March 12, 2010 - PV Powered, Inc., the innovation leader in solar inverter reliability, performance, and serviceability, announces that its commercial inverters are being installed in a new 2.4 MW project in Portland, Ore., the largest rooftop solar project in the Pacific Northwest. The project, which will be managed by a joint venture between Portland General Electric (PGE) and U.S. Bank, will cover approximately 900,000 square feet on the rooftops of seven ProLogis distribution warehouses in the Portland area with innovative thin-film solar panels. The solar modules were provided by Advanced Green Technologies, a worldwide supplier of innovative solar solutions for utility scale, industrial, commercial and residential installations.

"We're actively looking for ways to increase our solar energy resources in the Portland area, and the fact that we can build systems with a home-grown Oregon inverter technology is an extra benefit," said Mark Osborn, distributed resources manager at PGE. "But it is also critical that the system components perform and that they are designed to reduce maintenance costs, since we need to support our customers economically over the long haul. In that regard, PV Powered has proven to be a valuable technology partner."

PV Powered's commercial solar inverters, including the PVP 100kW and PVP 260kW being installed in the ProLogis project, are designed with fewer components than other commercial inverters, and use the best quality components available. Both factors contribute to decreased downtime for maintenance and longer operating life.

"PV Powered's utility-scale inverters are designed to maximize energy harvest using the latest in thin film commercial array technologies," said Erick Petersen, PV Powered's vice president of marketing and sales. "In addition to high performance, delivering maximum long-term reliability is also key as solar power becomes a mainstream alternative power source."

"Advanced Green Technologies has partnered with PV Powered to provide highly reliable inverters for our FlexLight thin-film photovoltaic systems," stated Michael Kornahrens, president of Advanced Green Technologies. "These inverters are proven to be best in class in terms of efficiency and are UL Certified."

The energy generated by this project will help PGE meet its commitment to providing 25 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2025. Already heavily involved in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Energy Grid Integration System (SEGIS) program, where PGE is on a team of industry leaders led by PV Powered, the utility sees the ProLogis installation as contributing experience toward its SEGIS program goal of developing innovative methods for managing and controlling distributed energy resources including solar.
