Unistrut Energy Solutions Launches Pre-Engineered Racking Systems for the Solar Market

Easy-to-install, pre-engineered racking system saves time and money in rooftop, ground and ballast-mounted solar installations

Harvey Ill.,—Unistrut International Corporation's Energy Solutions division now offers pre-engineered racking systems, demonstrating a cost-effective support structure for photovoltaic panels in a wide variety of solar applications, including rooftop, ground and ballast-mounted installations. PV panels can be mounted in a portrait or landscape format.

"Pre-engineered solutions provide labor and material savings to the marketplace," said David Devine, National Sales Manager. Four new designs will meet the wind load, snow load, dead load and seismic requirements of approximately 75 to 80 percent of all commercial solar applications. "With minor modifications, the system can be customized to meet more specific requirements, "added Devine.
With a pre-engineered solution, contractors and solar integrators no longer have to wait for an engineering analysis. Accurate costs can also be generated in a matter of days. The company estimates a 30-35 percent savings over custom racking systems.
"These are flexible, efficient designs that optimize the use of product and affordable materials," said Ray Szkola, Engineering Manager." We have reduced the number of pieces, provided for simple connections, and lengthened spans to minimize roof or ground penetrations. This all makes it easy for a laborer or skilled tradesman to install the system, and reduces cost."
Unistrut is unique in that it manufactures, designs, fabricates and installs solar racking systems. Fabrication, pre-assembly, engineering and installation services make Unistrut a convenient one-stop shop.
"Ease of installation is critical for the timeline of the job," said Devine. "A system that is easy to install will help minimize potential bottlenecks."

WS510 Secondary Standard

WS510 Secondary Standard

In the monitoring of large photovoltaic (Utility Scale), in assessing potential sites (Solar-assessment), or in up and coming electricity cost saving initiatives projects (Commercial & Industrial), the WS510 now provides the market a secondary standard pyranometer, ultrasonic wind speed, ultrasonic wind direction, temperature, pressure and humidity all in a single unit.. This sensor meets the high demands of the world meteorological organization (WMO) through the active valving at air temperature measurement and the inertia- and maintenance-free measurement of wind speed and wind direction on the ultrasonic principle. Equipped with a Kipp & Zonen pyranometer of the secondary standards, the WS510-UMB Compact weather sensor from Lufft unites the precision of a variety of meteorological individual sensors in a single all-in-one device, for the first time.
