Pressurex Sensor Film Maps and Measures Contact Pressures of Membranes in Fuel Cell Stacks

(Madison, NJ) - Sensor Products Inc. announces Pressurex® is becoming a tool that is increasingly being used in the fuel cell industry. Pressurex® aids in the design, manufacture and testing of fuel cells by helping to ensure uniform and accurate spacing between membranes in order to achieve maximum current flow and fuel usage efficiency in a fuel cell stack assembly.

Pressurex is an easy-to-use flexible film that is placed between contacting or mating surfaces to instantly and accurately measure and map pressure magnitude and distribution. When subjected to force, the film instantaneously and permanently changes color directly proportional to the actual pressure applied. The precise pressure magnitude (PSI or kg/cm2) is easily determined by comparing color variation results to a color correlation chart (conceptually similar to interpreting Litmus paper).Variations in contact surface pressure are immediately visible by the impression made on the film. The thin film technology also works well in invasive or intolerant environments that cannot accommodate traditional load cells and other transducers.

Several ranges of low pressure are currently used in the fuel cell industry. Pressurex® is ideal for manufacturing process control and machine/component inspection in almost any industrial, electronic and electrical application where contact force or torque must be calibrated and measured. Common applications include assessing contact pressure variations in gaskets, clamps, bolted joints, connectors, heat sinks, heat sealing elements, lamination presses, composite materials, injection molding, nip rolls, welding heads, clutch and brake assemblies, and tire treads.

Pressurex® comes in the form of a thin clear sheet coated with Mylar (4 or 8 mil), that is physically similar in appearance to paper. This technology works well in invasive or intolerant environments that cannot accommodate traditional load cells and other transducers.

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide - the ultimate solution for fast and easy installation of the rail-less RockIt racking system on composition shingle roofs. Smart Slide conforms to UL 441 and TAS 100 (A)-95 for wind and wind-driven rain, providing a super-strong watertight seal that is achieved through compression, in most cases without the need for additional sealant. The waterproofing sealant is embedded deep into the granules of the shingle, thanks to the integrated flexible foam layer that provides cushioning. This ensures a secure fit that conforms to any architectural-style shingle. With UltraGrip Technology™, you can rely on a secure installation, as it absorbs the movement created by thermal expansion and contraction. The pre-installed sealing pads are compatible with all composition shingle roofs, making it the ideal choice, even in ambient temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
