Caroline Jackson to join the Waste Management forum as a speaker

Next year in Sofia, on April 13 to 15 next year, over 5000 specialists will get together to network & discuss with other experts from the environmental industry.

A Member of the European Parliament between 1994 and 2009, Caroline Jackson has played a pivotal role in shaping some key pieces of the EU's environmental legislation. As the parliament begins a new legislature, the former chairwoman of its influential environment committee shares her insights on the upcoming challenges for European environmental policy. She acted as rapporteur on the Landfill Directive and on the Waste Framework Directive. Outside the Parliament she is Chairman of the Institute for European Environment Policy. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of SITA UK.

John P. Foden will speak about the history of waste-to-energy /w2e/ in Canada, a description of the challenges being faced by w2e proponents, legislative and/or regulatory hurdles, as well as an update on the activities of the Canadian Energy-From-Waste Coalition (CEFWC). He will give some prognoses about what the future holds. Following this presentation participants will understand what's working and what's stalled - and why. Attendees will come away with a full and complete list of the "Lessons Learned" in getting w2e projects approved - from managing any controversial issues that may arise, to dealing with complex political dynamics, to the formulation of regulatory approvals, to communicating with local communities and interested groups.

Over 100 speakers are due to speak at both events covering the Region of South East Europe - Renewable Energy and Waste Management.

Next year, the parallel expo will have more than 150 stands including national and group participations from Spain, Austria, Slovenia, USA, China, Germany, as well as leading manufacturers and service providers from Germany, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland and Bulgaria only to mention some Vestas, Enercon, Fronious, etc.
