Sir Richard Branson to Receive Frost & Sullivan 2011 GIL Award

Recognized for his visionary leadership in founding Carbon War Room and his work with partners to tackle tough social and environmental challenges

Sir Richard Branson is the second recipient to be named for Frost & Sullivan's 2011 Growth, Innovation and Leadership (GIL) Award. The founder of the Virgin Group is being recognized for his visionary leadership in founding the Carbon War Room, one of the most influential non-profit organizations in the energy and environment world today. The GIL award will be presented by Frost & Sullivan Chairman, David Frigstad at Frost & Sullivan's annual GIL 2011: Europe event, taking place 17-18 May, 2011, at Emirates Stadium in London.

Announcing the award, Mr. Frigstad says: "The CEO's world is a 24/7 complex business universe. It moves at light speed and grows more challenging each day. It requires precision, confidence and true visionary leadership to keep up. Not only has Richard Branson set the bar in these areas, but he continues to challenge the norm, redefining the needs of industry and global challenges of the world in which we live. We are proud to applaud and celebrate Richard's lifelong achievements."

The Carbon War Room focuses on achieving billion ton (gigaton-scale) reductions in
carbon dioxide emissions (CO2e) by harnessing entrepreneurship to unlock wealth and prosperity across the economy. By bringing project finance and growth capital together with infrastructure entrepreneurs, corporates, governments and NGOs, Carbon War Room identifies and eliminates market barriers driving environmental improvements alongside economic growth.

Brian Denker, Vice President of Growth, Innovation and Leadership for Frost & Sullivan comments: "The impact that Carbon War Room is having in the marketplace is truly remarkable. We also wanted to acknowledge Richard's work with partners on the frontlines to tackle tough social and environmental challenges with talented people and innovative approaches." "Carbon War Room and Virgin initiatives respectively are a true testament to Sir Branson's commitment in addressing global challenges", concludes Mr Denker.

The award to Richard Branson follows another important accolade that Frost & Sullivan will present to Dr Charles Roberts, Creator and Innovator of Greeenstar's climate impact scale - reducing corporate carbon emissions around the world.
