Schneider Electric shipping shade-tolerant, easy-to-install, Conext Series grid tie solar inverters

Schneider Electric's Context range of single-phase inverters range from 2.8 to 5 kW.

Schneider Electric Renewable Energies Business has launched the Conext range of single-phase inverters in North America, offering a robust, simple and flexible solar grid tie solution for residential and small commercial applications. Models range from 2.8 to 5 kW, with the 5kW inverters now available for order and shipping and all models available by the end of the year.

Conext inverters use Schneider Electric's Fast Sweep technology, containing an innovative maximum power point tracking (MPPT) feature that helps ensure increased energy harvest in shaded conditions. The Conext range uses a proven high-frequency design in a compact enclosure. The inverters contain an integrated DC and AC disconnect switch, are optimized for common service panel breaker sizes, and are easily installed as a single inverter for a single photovoltaic (PV) array or in a multiple-inverter configuration for larger PV systems.

"Conext inverters offer a great combination of reliable performance, easy installation, and affordability," said Lindsay Hardie, Senior Manager, Single Phase Global Product Line for Schneider Electric. "Coupled with Schneider Electric's complete line of Square D disconnects, breakers, and load centers, installers can go to one vendor for their balance-of-system and inverter needs."

Kipp & Zonen - DustIQ the novel soiling monitoring solution for solar panels

Soiling of the panel glass is one of the major problems in the rapidly expanding solar energy market, with the attendant loss of efficiency and reduction in performance ratios. Now, there's a new, simple and very cost-effective alternative. Based on Kipp & Zonen's unique Optical Soiling Measurement (OSM) technology, DustIQ can be easily added to new or existing solar arrays and integrated into plant management systems. The unit is mounted to the frame of a PV panel and does not need sunlight to operate. It continuously measures the transmission loss through glass caused by soiling, so that the reduction in light reaching the solar cells can be calculated.
