Lufft USA Announces New Sensors with Rain Gauge

Fellbach Germany - G. LUFFT MESS- UND REGELTECHNIK Fellbach Germany LUFFT announced the release of two new integrated weather stations with built in tipping bucket rain gauge and optional leaf wetness sensor.

The new sensors will integrate rainfall measurement with by a tipping bucket to existing all in one stations already measuring temperature, relative humidity, air pressure and wind speed and wind direction. The weather stations are available with optional external sensors for leaf wetness or surface temperature. Delivery of the new weather stations will begin March 2012.


The WS401 and WS601 add to the Lufft line of innovative WS weather stations with intelligent microprocessor. Lufft WS sensors are designed to reduce costs by integrating multiple climate parameters into one precise flexible sensor. The WS401 and WS601 will measure rainfall by tipping bucket instead of the normal Doppler radar measurements available in other Lufft sensors. The WS600 with Doppler radar rainfall sensor is still readily available. The new WS401 and WS601 sensors will reduce cost and provide added flexibility for customers needing external temperature or leaf wetness measurements. The external sensors can be attached using the sensor cable and will communicate using the existing digital sensor communication. All Lufft climate parameters are extremely accurate and calibrated to international standards of quality and accuracy ISO17025/9001. Data is transmitted via RS485/RS232 digital stream or analog channels (with additional hardware).
