SOLAR & WIND EXPO MID-ATLANTIC PRESENTS EXHIBITS, SEMINARS, AND ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Third Annual Expo May 11-13, Timonium Fairgrounds, Maryland

The Third Annual Solar & Wind Expo will offer consumers valuable information about saving energy and saving money while being good to the environment at its Mid-Atlantic Expo at the State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland the weekend of May 11-13, 2012. A big focus of this year's Expo is electric vehicles.

The Expo will begin with a keynote address by MotorWeek host John Davis.

MotorWeek was one of the first mainstream media outlets to provide regular coverage of advances in green motoring technologies and the use of alternative fuels. With uncertain fuel prices, MotorWeek continues to give viewers a front row seat as automakers seek to strike a balance between giving car buyers the performance they desire and the fuel economy they demand. It's said, "They don't build them like they used to," and that's never been more true than right now!

After his talk, Davis will be joined by a panel of experts to discuss all types of alternative fuel vehicles – from plug-in cars to electric bicycles.
The Electric Vehicle Association of Washington, DC will have a number of vehicles on display and its members will answer questions.

Electric car maker THINK will demonstrate its THINK City cars at the Expo courtesy of Eurostar Automotive in Randallstown. The THINK City is priced at $22,500 and eligible for a $7,500 Federal income-tax credit and a $2,000 Maryland excise tax exemption, bringing the post-incentive cost down to $15,000. With no additional sales tax, it is the most affordable highway-capable electric vehicle available in the market today.

THINK City is an all-electric, zero emission modern city car – made in the United States – designed for urban commuters and fleet customers who want to make a bold statement about protecting the environment and reducing dependency on imported oil. Powered by an advanced Lithium-ion battery and electric motor, THINK City is four times more energy efficient than a conventional vehicle and creates fewer greenhouse gas emissions in any operating scenario. The interior trim components and body panels are made of 100% recyclable plastic parts. The color is molded into the body panels reducing visible dents and scratches and eliminating the need for environmentally harmful paint emissions.

THINK North America, Inc. was established in 2008 to manufacture, sell and service the THINK City electric car in North America. The company operates today as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Munich, Germany-based Electric Mobility Automotive, AG (EMA).
Expo attendees will be able to see and test drive the THINK City.

The Expo will bring consumers together with national and local companies that supply all types of renewable energy products and related businesses. The Solar & Wind Expo is the premier event for those who are looking to conserve energy and integrate renewable technologies such as solar, wind and geothermal energies, both for financial reasons and for reducing their carbon footprint.

In addition to exhibits, the Expo will feature the following:
• Nineteen consumer seminars on topics such as:
o Your Energy Efficiency Checklist
o Home Solar the Way You Want It
o The Nuts & Bolts of Your Solar System
o Financing Your Renewable Project
o Solar Water Heating, and more

• Four professional courses leading to certification for those wishing to enter the renewable energy field

"We are very pleased to bring consumer seminars and accreditation opportunities to Maryland," said Solar & Wind Expo Executive Director George Lopez. "We are building a community of interested consumers and professionals – those who have the foresight to see that renewables are the way to go today, not at some undefined point in the future."

The company has launched an interactive website chock full of information to help consumers make decisions about all forms of renewable energy: solarandwindliving.com.

Tickets to the Expo: Adults $12 or $10 online; Children under 12 admitted free. Discounts are available online. Hours are: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Moms will be admitted free on Sunday, May 13, Mother's Day.
