Messe Husum and Deutsche Messe announce Windallianz Award

Messe Husum and Deutsche Messe announce a Technology Prize for Innovative Wind-Energy Companies - the Windallianz Award

Husum / Hanover, 11 May 2012. Innovative companies from the wind-energy sector can apply for the Windallianz Award starting immediately. This technology prize will be offered by Messe Husum and the Deutsche Messe for the first time. It is directed at national and international companies that participate in the value-creation chain of the wind-energy industry, either as manufacturers of overall systems, as service providers or as suppliers of individual components.

"The competition in the international wind-energy market brings about an important surge in innovation, whose results are presented to the professional international audience as well as to the business and political community at the fairs in Hanover and Husum. By introducing the Windallianz Award, we are placing a targeted incentive for companies to continue developing existing technologies or to generate completely new ones. We plan to create a great deal of attention for the Windallianz Award and will make investors aware of it", says Dr. Jochen Köckler, member of the board of the Deutsche Messe AG.

"The international wind-energy sector needs technological innovations, both now and in the future, to stand its ground among increasing competition and growing pricing pressure", adds Peter Becker, managing director of the Messe Husum & Congress. "With the Windallianz Award we want to honour excellent technological innovations."

Festive Award Ceremony at HUSUM WindEnergy
The award winner will be chosen by an international jury, made up of high-ranking experts from the Centre of Excellence for Wind Energy (CEwind), from the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology, the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) and the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA).

In addition to taking the degree of innovation and the market potential into account, the professional jury – when awarding the prize – will also consider the ecological and social benefit of the products and services submitted as well as the companies' commitment to corporate social responsibility.

The nominations will be announced in the summer. The festive award ceremony of the winner will take place in September 2012 within the framework of the HUSUM WindEnergy international trade fair. The application documents can be obtained from the Messe Husum & Congress. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2012.
