Solamor Event Services & SolarWorld partner to supply renewable energy to outdoor concert events.

Solar, wind & biofuel to power Oregon's What the Festival in July

PORTLAND, ORE., June 20, 2012 – Solamor Event Services, a provider of portable renewable-power generators and producer of sustainable events, is proud to announce its partnership with SolarWorld, the largest U.S. solar panel manufacturer for more than 35 years. Solamor's newest addition to their generator fleet features eight locally made SolarWorld solar panels, two Southwest Windpower wind turbines, an Outback Radian Series inverter and an on board bio-fuel generator. This collaborative hybrid unit is the key component in the clean power grid for the upcoming What the Festival in White River Canyon, Ore., reducing the carbon footprint of one of Oregon's premier music and art events.

Solamor's innovative approach to event production uses custom-engineered hybrid solar, wind and bio-fuel generators to provide low-carbon power to concerts, festivals, film shoots and sporting events. Solamor also improves event sustainability by implementing waste-reduction strategies and localized procurement. "Our partnership with SolarWorld will help us power big-name events almost entirely on clean, renewable energy," said Tatianna Pavich, co-founder of Solamor. "What the Festival, a weekend-long celebration of music and interactive art in a pristine, natural setting, is the perfect venue to employ alternative energy and other elements of sustainable event production. It will be completely clean-energy powered."

What the Festival will take place July 27-29, 2012, in White River Canyon, about 100 miles east of Portland. Situated in a scenic river valley adjacent to Mount Hood, the festival's musical lineup includes Ghostland Observatory, Beats Antique, Emancipator, Bonobo, Dillon Francis and more than 30 other bands. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view interactive art installations, swim in a spring-fed splash pool, see circus and dance performances, take yoga classes, and purchase locally made food and crafts. (Tickets and information are available at

Solamor will use integrative smart grid methods to construct a temporary renewable-energy grid to power the festival site. The company will also general-manage the event, procure the best quality local products and services, and has set a goal to divert at least 75 percent of the festival's waste from the landfill. "With help from SolarWorld and Southwest Windpower, we are bringing portable power and sustainable services to events like What The Festival" said Peter Clark, founding director.

Solamor has provided clean power to more than 150 events in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada and Texas since the company's inception in 2010, including Burning Man, the Portland Marathon, Symbiosis Gatherings, Austin Trail of Lights, Oregon Berry Festival, OMSI & Willamette Week events, PDX Bridge Fest, Art Outside, Ecotrust Concert Series, PDX Carbon Neutral Earth Day and Yuri's Night at NASA Ames Research Center.
