Siemens receives 270 MW wind order from Australia

Siemens has received an order for a total of 90 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 270 megawatts (MW) for the Snowtown II Wind Farm in Australia. The customer is TrustPower, one of New Zealand`s biggest energy retailers. The scope of supply encompasses delivery, installation and commissioning of 90 gearless SWT-3.0 wind turbines with a power rating of 3,0 MW. Siemens' service team will maintain the wind turbines under a long term service agreement. Installation of the wind turbines is scheduled to begin in 2013, commissioning of the wind power plant is planned for 2014.

Hamburg, Germany, "With the SWT-3.0 direct drive wind turbine, our customers like TrustPower get a high-quality product from a partner whom they can trust. The innovative direct-drive wind technology is a reliable investment in the future of renewable power generation in Australia," said Kay Weber, CEO of the Siemens Wind Power Business Unit APAC. According to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), Australia has exceptional wind resources which will make an increasing contribution to its energy mix. GWEC estimates that Australia`s installed wind power capacity will triple from today`s 2,200 MW to roughly 6,900 MW in 2016.

The Snowtown II Wind Farm will be located approximately 140 km north of Adelaide in South Australia. Once completed, it will be one of the largest wind projects in Australia and provide clean and renewable energy to power the equivalent of up to 180,000 average households in the region.

Wind Power is part of Siemens' Environmental Portfolio. In fiscal 2011, revenue from the Portfolio totaled about 30 billion, making Siemens one of the world's largest suppliers of ecofriendly technologies. In the same period, our products and solutions enabled customers to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by nearly 320 million tons, an amount equal to the total annual CO2 emissions of Berlin, Delhi, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, New York, Singapore and Tokyo.

The Siemens Energy Sector is the world's leading supplier of a complete spectrum of products, services and solutions for power generation in thermal power plants and using renewables, power transmission in grids and for the extraction, processing and transport of oil and gas. In fiscal 2011 (ended September 30), the Energy Sector had revenues of EUR24.9 billion and received new orders totaling approximately EUR31.8 billion and posted a profit of EUR3.9 billion. GreenFasten™ solar panel roof mount hardware, watertight, USA made

The GreenFasten™ - GF1 system utilizes the patented watertight technology EcoFasten Solar® is known for. The flashing is fit with our EPDM rubber bushing and when used with a compatible EcoFasten Solar compression bracket (milled with countersink), a watertight seal is created, which protects the integrity of the roof. Requiring just a single fastener (lag bolt or self-drilling), GreenFasten provides the fastest install in the industry and will not void roofing manufacturer's warranties. Backed by IAPMO certification, GreenFasten delivers a mounting solution for all new or existing (retrofit) composition shingle roofs, and is the most cost-effective solution available. Like all of the solar roof mount solutions in our line of products, GreenFasten is made in the USA using recycled materials.
