Tioga Energy® Enters Connecticut Solar Market with Municipal Project

SurePath® Solar PPA enables $244,000 in electricity bill savings for the Town of West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – September 5, 2012 – Tioga Energy®, a leading provider of renewable energy services to commercial, government and non-profit organizations, today announced the completion of two solar electric systems for the Town of West Hartford, Conn. Totaling 160kW, the project serves as Tioga Energy's first in the state.

The rooftop solar installations are now powering the municipality-owned West Hartford Department of Public Works and the Bishops Corner Library, providing approximately 34 percent and 48 percent of the facilities' electricity needs, respectively. Branford, Conn.-based Aegis Solar® managed installation services for both systems.

With a SurePath® Solar power purchase agreement (PPA) in place from Tioga Energy, the Town of West Hartford will purchase the clean power generated by the systems at a rate lower than that offered by the local utility. Over the course of the 20-year PPA, the Town will save an estimated $244,000 in electricity expenses.

"Tioga Energy was relentless in their determination to get our solar project completed. They were able to overcome challenges in financing the project and got our systems constructed in less than two months once those issues were resolved," said Chris Johnson, Director of Financial Services, Town of West Hartford. "Thanks to Tioga, we're able to see our solar vision come to fruition and we look forward to passing our utility savings along to our residents."

"Our years-long pursuit of success for the Town of West Hartford is a testament to the steadfast determination within this organization to help our customers achieve their goals for sustainability," said Paul Detering, CEO of Tioga Energy. "While we're bound to face roadblocks given the complexity of financing incentive structures, Tioga is well equipped to tackle these challenges head-on and deliver solar energy savings for our customers across the country."

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide - the ultimate solution for fast and easy installation of the rail-less RockIt racking system on composition shingle roofs. Smart Slide conforms to UL 441 and TAS 100 (A)-95 for wind and wind-driven rain, providing a super-strong watertight seal that is achieved through compression, in most cases without the need for additional sealant. The waterproofing sealant is embedded deep into the granules of the shingle, thanks to the integrated flexible foam layer that provides cushioning. This ensures a secure fit that conforms to any architectural-style shingle. With UltraGrip Technologyâ„¢, you can rely on a secure installation, as it absorbs the movement created by thermal expansion and contraction. The pre-installed sealing pads are compatible with all composition shingle roofs, making it the ideal choice, even in ambient temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
