San Diego Residential Solar Rebates Dry Out December 31

San Diego is the solar capital of the nation, with more capacity and number of rooftops than any other city in the nation. Locally headquartered Sullivan Solar Power launched a countywide solar rebate program in April of this year to expand the adoption of solar technology in the region and keep the title of America's top solar city. Today, the company announced that its cash-back incentive program will close with the end of the year on December 31, 2012.

The initiative, called the San Diego Solar Program, allows San Diego County residents the opportunity to receive incentives that double the current California Solar Initiative (CSI) state rebate amount. The program is structured similar to the CSI program, and as capacity milestones are reached, incentive amounts drop. The company is in its final phase of funding, at $0.20 per watt, and the average homeowner who signs up before the December 31 program sunset will receive $1,000 cash-back.

"The San Diego Solar Program is a game changer for those residents who have wanted to go solar but thought it was too expensive," said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power, "We developed this program to allow homeowners to go solar and get paid to do so without the need for home equity or spending a dime out of pocket."

The Sullivan-led initiative is limited to 500 San Diego County residents and interested parties must sign up before the New Year to be eligible. The company estimates to pay San Diego residents up to $800,000 collectively in cash-back incentives with the San Diego Solar Program if fully subscribed.
