PREMIERE OF ENERGY STORAGE NORTH AMERICA CONFERENCE AND EXPO ANNOUNCED

ENERGY STORAGE NORTH AMERICA 2013 is strategically timed to coincide with potential new energy storage procurement targets for California.

With the first staging of ENERGY STORAGE NORTH AMERICA (ESNA) from September 10 - 12, 2013 at the San Jose Convention Center in California, Messe Düsseldorf will bring its successful concept from Germany to the United States. Jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf North America and Strategen Consulting, ESNA 2013 will be the first energy storage conference and expo in the U.S. to focus exclusively on applications, customers and deal making. ESNA is broadly supported by the global energy storage industry, including the following key partners: the Electricity Storage Association (ESA), the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA), the Texas Energy Storage Alliance (TESA), the German Energy Storage Association (BVES), the China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA) and the Indian Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), as well as Solarpraxis AG and Joint Venture Silicon Valley.

ENERGY STORAGE NORTH AMERICA 2013 is strategically timed to coincide with potential new energy storage procurement targets for California load serving entities pursuant to AB 2514. AB 2514 requires the CPUC to establish appropriate 2015 and 2020 energy storage procurement targets if cost-effective and commercially viable by October 2013. Momentum is steadily growing in California, as just last week, the CPUC unanimously approved a long term procurement decision ordering Southern California Edison (SCE) to procure between 1,400 and 1,800 megawatts of energy resource capacity in the Los Angeles basin to meet long term local capacity requirements by 2021. Of this amount, at least 50 MW is required by the CPUC to be procured by SCE from energy storage resources, as well as up to an additional total of 600MW of capacity from preferred resources - including energy storage resources. Under the CPUC's final decision, energy storage resources must be considered "along with preferred resources" including energy efficiency, demand response and distributed generation, consistent with the clean energy resource procurement priorities embodied in California's Energy Action Plan.

Messe Düsseldorf North America is the subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf in Germany, renowned as one of the world's leading organizers of international trade shows, including Energy Storage - International Summit for the Storage of Renewable Energies - held annually in Düsseldorf, Germany. The last staging of this event in March 2012 attracted 350 participants from 29 countries. Strategen Consulting is a strategy consulting firm helping clients build profitable and sustainable clean energy businesses since 2005. In 2009, Strategen Consulting co-founded the world's first advocacy group for grid storage - the California Energy Storage Alliance.

"As the U.S. subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf, we have been active in the North American market for over 20 years in a variety of industries and serve as a link for U.S. and international companies to access markets all over the world. Energy Storage North America is a logical continuation of Energy Storage held in Düsseldorf to open up new market opportunities on this continent," stated Tom Mitchell, President of Messe Düsseldorf North America.

"Energy Storage North America will be the ideal event to showcase profitable energy storage applications and innovative business models for the electric power system" added Janice Lin, Executive Director of the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA) and Managing Partner of Strategen Consulting, LLC. "The global reach of Messe Düsseldorf' and its partners underscores the importance of grid storage as a key solution to enable a cleaner, more affordable, reliable and secure electric power system around the world."

With its expertise in trade fairs and clean energy consulting, Messe Düsseldorf North America and Strategen Consulting will provide a first-class networking event to drive energy storage market expansion in profitable applications – highlighting the synergies, inter-relationships and new business opportunities for transmission, distribution, customer-sited, microgrids/ campuses and mobility (electric vehicle charging) applications.

The 3-day ESNA 2013 conference will start with workshops on September 10, followed by the conference program concentrating on interactive markets with the topic "Energy Storage Development – Spotlight on California" on the second day. Day three will highlight "Energy Storage Development – Expanding the Market". The conference will feature four application-focused parallel session tracks with over 80 speakers. Detailed information about the program and speakers will be announced at a later date.

For exhibiting, ESNA 2013 offers sponsoring packages including booth space as well as booth space without sponsoring options. Sponsorship packages range from $5,000 - $15,000 while booth space without a sponsorship is $2,500 for a 10x10 booth or $5,000 for a 10x20 booth. Participation fees for ESNA 2013 are $1,500 for the 2-day conference and exhibit (September 11 – 12) and $595 for the workshops on September 10, 2013. Early bird discounts for participating ($1,275 for 2-day conference and $525 for workshops) apply until August 10, 2013. There is no charge for visiting the expo show floor (September 11 - 12). Exhibitor applications and information as well as conference registration are available online at www.ESNAexpo.com.

This website also acts as an online community for the entire sector and includes a comprehensive directory of relevant companies in the energy storage sector. ESNA 2013 exhibitors and non-exhibitors can provide details about their companies free of charge and find relevant industry information as well as a supplier database.
