Littelfuse offers the broadest selection of fuse options

CHICAGO, June 17, 2013 –- Littelfuse, Inc., the global leader in circuit protection, today announced it has developed in cooperation with leading photovoltaic equipment providers a Series of 1500 VDC photovoltaic fuses designed to protect the next generation of solar installations. The SPXV and SPXN Series of fuses meet the tough requirements of 30kA interrupt ratings, 1500 VDC protection and global standards critical to solar equipment manufacturers.

The new SPXV series includes string protection fuses from 6 to 20 amps in a 10 x 85 mm design and slightly wider 25 and 30 amp fuses, designed to fit the same holders. The standardized size allows for maximum flexibility of array construction, as fuse rating is often a final step in specification. With eight products under 30 amps, Littelfuse offers the broadest selection of fuse options. All of the new string protection fuses fit into a new 1500 V LPXV holder.

The higher amperage SPXN, with six models ranging from 200 to 400 amps, also comply with global standards, including UL2579 and IEC 60269-6. These products feature a ventilation-enhancing, cylindrical design, with sturdy melamine construction that meets the standard NH3L package size. The blade and bolt mounting feature provides flexibility in mounting for easy installation and replacement.

Both the high and low amperage models were specifically designed to minimize wattage loss and provide the highest efficiency product for 1500 VDC installations. This not only improves long-term system cost; it also reduces internal cabinet temperatures.
