"The finance and bankability-related events that were organized by VDE in the past years have proven to be very successful. These events have provided an excellent platform for various players in the solar market to create a solid bridge with the finance and insurance industries. Numerous high-profile participants in the VDE events held in Asia have contributed to new innovative ideas and solutions that can be adopted around the world. We are very excited to expand the focus of the VDE Financial Dialogue Europe 2014 to include energy storage systems as well as other renewable energies together with a strong partner like Messe Duesseldorf and its Energy Storage event," said Burkhard Holder, Head of Division for Energy and Smart Technologies of the VDE Institute. "The financing of energy storage systems is one of the key questions which must be answered in order to develop a sustainable storage market. We are delighted that the VDE Institute will bring together the key players in Düsseldorf – it is a perfect addition to Energy Storage", adds Dr. Harald Binder, managing director of the Bundesverband Energiespeicher (BVES, German Energy Storage Association), which actively supports the Energy Storage conference and exhibition through sponsorship.

This is the third time the Power to Gas Conference has been staged, with 2014 seeing a change of venue from Regensburg to Düsseldorf. "By pooling our strengths, we significantly raise the profile of the topic of energy storage. That was particularly important to us," explains Bernd Porzelius, department head for renewable energies at the OTTI.

Topics addressed at Energy Storage include, among others, technological innovations in the field of storage devices, the design of the energy market of the future, integration into the grid, and the prospects for international markets. The topics are illustrated by means of many practical examples.

"What is special about the Energy Storage event is that we gather experts and decision makers from the fields of industry, science and politics together at the one table, in order to discuss all the problems associated with energy storage, from electrical via chemical and thermal to more exotic storage solutions. In the future, renewable energy dominated energy mix, storage technologies will play an important role," states Prof. Dr. Eicke R. Weber, spokesperson for Fraunhofer-Allianz Energie, head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems and president of the German Energy Storage Association (BVES), who has just been re-elected as chairman of the Programme Committee. "With the Power to Gas Conference and the VDE Financial Dialogue, we have brought two top-class events organised by highly respected partners on board, thereby providing our participants with improved business contacts to important decision makers in this field," adds Hans Werner Reinhard, deputy managing director of Messe Düsseldorf.

Keynote speakers for Energy Storage 2014 we be, among others, Hildegard Müller, chair of the executive board of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW); Sven Becker, CEO of the Stadtwerkeverbund Trianel; Boris Schucht, CEO of 50Hertz, and Johann-Friedrich Dempwolff, president of the Association of European Automotive and Industrial Battery Manufacturers (EUROBAT) and managing director of Johnson Controls Power Solutions EMEA as keynote speakers. An up-to-date Programme is now available online at: www.energy-storage-online.com. Early-Bird rates apply until 31st December 2013. Registration is now open at www.energy-storage-online.com/1130.

Energy Storage Düsseldorf is expected to become the leading exhibition and congress platform for the topic of energy storage. Consequently, for the first time, in addition to the standard conference ticket, expert visitor's tickets will be offered which will enable visitors to visit the exhibition and use the Energy Storage event for active networking. What is more, with the new conference app, participants have the opportunity to contact other participants and to use rooms for business meetings at no cost.

With more than 530 participants and 45 exhibitors from 33 different countries, Energy Storage Düsseldorf already proved itself one of the most important events for the energy storage industry in 2013.
