An Asheville solar farm company is breaking all records in the state of North Carolina with over ten (12) projects scheduled in 2014 that total over 800 megawatts of added solar pv power to the grid. These large scale projects are just a portion of what Innovative Solar Systems has planned in the state as dozens of ISS's other solar farm projects are still in the 2MW – 6.5MW (DC) size as the small investors and owner operator types still love the smaller size projects for many reasons. John Green, a managing partner for ISS, says that these are very exciting times for their company as ISS wraps up business in North Carolina and expands into about six other key states.

The tax incentives in North Carolina are better than ever and offer investors a 30% federal tax credit along with a 35% NC tax credit and accelerated depreciation. With the cost of equipment and labor being the lowest in history, the financial paybacks on these solar farm deals in the state are some of the most sought after on the planet. Green states that by developing the larger projects in the 50MW range, ISS has been able to cut installed costs to around $1.25/watt, some of the lowest in the industry. ISS sees investors getting returns in the double digits and the solar farm can also enhance any corporation's public image when it comes to being good stewards of natural resources.

Large investors and owner operators seem to like the large size solar farms due to reduction in installed costs and lower soft costs being associated with each project. Green states that the smaller projects, 2MW to 6.5MW are still in great demand and that is one reason ISS has about 30 of them for sale in 2014. ISS is also partnering up with large companies and OEM's on these large deals in a variety of ways. Large scale manufacturers like to get in on the ground floor of large solar farm projects so that they have a home for their equipment so Green says it's just a natural fit to bring in the OEM's as 50% partners on many of these large deals.
