Maxwell Technologies Announces Additions To Senior Management Team

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 23, 2014 -- Maxwell Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MXWL) announced today that Chris Humphrey, Andrew (Drew) McLean and William Zhu have joined the company's executive management team.


Humphrey joined Maxwell as vice president, marketing and ultracapacitor engineering, in September 2013. Most recently, he served as vice president, corporate marketing for QLogic, a leading provider of enterprise server and storage networking solutions. Previously, he was with Honeywell Safety Products as vice president and general manager for the global hearing protection group, a leader in active and passive hearing protection and electronic communication solutions. Prior to Honeywell he held senior marketing and engineering leadership positions with Lantronix, Tyco, Applied Micro Circuits (formally JNI) and Teledyne. He holds dual bachelor's degrees in Systems Engineering and Theatre (Playwriting) from the University of California at San Diego.

McLean joined Maxwell as vice president, corporate & business development in December 2013. Immediately prior to joining Maxwell, he served as Vice President & Managing Director for Emerson Electric Company, a global conglomerate with business entities in over 150 countries. Previously, McLean served as Senior Vice President of JPMorgan's Private Equity Group and served as a senior executive for their largest portfolio company. In the 1990's, McLean served as an executive at US-based Tellabs, Inc., and before that held a variety of corporate executive-level and general management leadership positions at Ameritech Corporation and worked in the financial services industry at Chicago Trust Company and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Management from Northern Arizona University; an MBA, with an emphasis in international marketing and strategy from Loyola University of Chicago; and a Master's of Science degree from Northwestern University.

Zhu joined Maxwell as vice president of Asia sales in January 2014. Immediately prior to joining Maxwell, he was General Manager of Enersys China and Hong Kong, with responsibility for sales, marketing, field application engineering and operations, serving multiple industries, including energy, transportation and telecommunications. Before that Zhu was North Asia general manager for Schneider Group's Eaton power quality and controls operations, with sales, marketing and product management responsibilities covering China, Hong Kong and South Korea. Previously, he was business development and sales director for Philips (China) Investment Company. Zhu also lived in South America while serving as an international sales manager for Huawei Technologies. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.
