PVinsights: Polysilicon prices face increasing price cut pressure in March.

With slower downstream demand in China, polysilicon pricing faces increasing price cut pressure as the supply is less tight. Some spot polysilicon transaction drops in China.

Module remains on the price downtrend. Weak demand in China continues pressuring modules prices in the country. While in Japan, the fiscal yearend also imposes price cut pressure as solar companies try boosting their sales. As such, overall module price continues dropping this week.

Cell price also deteriorates this week. Influenced by the US antidumping case against Taiwanese cells, Chinese module makers currently focus on procuring Taiwanese cells to manufacture modules for the US export before May. As such, Chinese cell demand drops and pressures their prices in the country. On the other hand, Taiwanese cells also face increasing price cut pressure especially for cells export to the EU region. Due to the US antidumping case, some Taiwanese cell makers strategically cut price to secure EU orders after May. At the same time, with weaker demand in China, Chinese cell makers also cut their EU prices close to the required minimum price level. With increasing price competition for EU export, overall Taiwanese cell makers face increasing price cut pressure.
Multi wafer price moderately drops this week. Since the US antidumping case negatively affects the cell demand and its prices in China, Chinese wafer companies face increasing price cut pressure as well. On the other hand, Taiwanese multi wafer price remains rather flat. In Taiwan, overall cell pricing is fairly stable except for the generally higher pricing cells exporting to the EU. The Taiwanese cell company procurement is more focus on maintaining stable wafer pricing. In addition, Taiwanese cell companies are more conservative on wafer procurement with some wafer inventories on hand. Therefore, the Taiwanese wafer prices remains stable, but the overall multi wafer pricing is still negatively affected by the price drop in China. Mono wafer price remains stable this week. Although mono wafer companies still try to push up their prices, further mono wafer price increase is limited, as polysilicon price becomes more stable while increasing price cut pressure adds to the solar supply chain.
Polysilicon price maintains stable this week. With slower downstream demand in China, polysilicon pricing faces increasing price cut pressure as the supply is less tight. Some spot polysilicon transaction drops in China. On the other hand, polysilicon prices outside China remain rather stable as solar companies maintain high utilizations. As such, overall polysilicon price remains stable this week.
