Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) Wastewater Treatment Plant to Provide Tour of Facilities at Energy Ocean

The Energy Ocean Conference and Exhibition, which will be held June 3-5, 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

ROCKVILLE, MD –April 1, 2014 – Energy Ocean conference attendees will be touring the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) Wastewater Treatment Plant to kick-off the annual conference at 10:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday, June 3rd. The Energy Ocean Conference and Exhibition, which will be held June 3-5, 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, is the leading event for the offshore renewable energy industry, covering developments in wind, wave and tidal energy.

The Atlantic County Utilities Authority is committed to seeking out the most sustainable and effective technologies to power their facilities. Renewable energy options deliver a two-fold benefit: they limit energy cost increases and protect the environment. The wind farm, first in the state, consists of five 380-foot turbines capable of producing a combined 7.5 megawatts of power – enough energy to power approximately 2,500 homes. As an eastern, urban, coastal, industrial, onshore, multi-turbine wind farm, it is one that is unique to the world. There is a 500 kilowatt solar electric project comprised of 2,700 solar panels; the system is estimated to produce more than 600,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, with a ground mounted parking canopy and roof top solar arrays. The power produced by wind and solar is used to operate the wastewater treatment plant with any excess energy provided to the main power grid.

Following the tour will be Preconference Workshops with speakers from leading organizations including Pathfinder, LLC and Holland Consulting, LLC, along with a roundtable luncheon.
