Innotech Solar supplies 3.6 MW of modules to "Domani splende il sole"

Italian Province of Reggio Emilia invests in photovoltaics

Munich, Germany/Reggio nell'Emilia, Italy, July 31, 2014 – The Scandinavian-German manufacturer Innotech Solar (ITS) has supplied 3.6 megawatts (MW) of solar modules to the project "Domani splende il sole" or, in English, "The Sun Will Shine Tomorrow". During the project, businesses in the Italian Province of Reggio Emilia installed 100 solar systems to the roofs of public buildings such as schools, sports centres and town halls.

The project was designed and planned by Agac Infrastrutture, the management company of the 45 municipalities in the Province of Reggio Emilia, and Iren Rinnovabili, the division of utility company IREN S.p.A. that specializes in renewable energy. Around 120 employees working for regional companies installed the 100 rooftop solar systems, while the bank "Banco Emiliano", which is also based in the Province of Reggio Emilia, financed the initiative.

"We are particularly proud of the excellent level of cooperation between the public and private sectors. More than 20 companies were involved in constructing the 100 photovoltaic installations and we will all benefit from the way in which these solar systems will save more than 1,700 metric tons of CO2 per year," reports Davide Reverberi, the lead project manager at Electric World S.r.l., one of the installation companies working on the initiative. "Before beginning construction, we tested various solar module manufacturers but selected Innotech Solar thanks to its modules being produced in Europe and their outstanding temperature coefficient ( -0.38%/K ) which enables them to generate above-average yields even at high temperatures."

"I am especially pleased that the solar installations fitted to the 100 public buildings included in the "Domani splende il sole" project have made photovoltaic systems manufactured in Europe a large part of everyday life in the Province of Reggio Emilia. This definitely provides a great example to the young people living in the region, who are growing up to see renewable energy as the norm, benefitting us now and for generations to come," explains Emanuele Paese, Head of Sales & Marketing Europe at Innotech Solar.

Innotech Solar has supplied around 15,000 solar modules to the large-scale project. In total, these modules will generate more than 4,400 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity each year, which is enough to provide power to some 1,800 households in the region.
