Alstom receives final type certificate for the ECO122 wind onshore turbine in its 2.7 MW version

The ECO 122 is the latest evolution of Alstom's proven ECO 100 turbine platform and the result of more than 30 years of experience in wind turbine design.

Alstom's ECO 122 in its 2.7MW version, has successfully obtained the full type certificate from DEWI-OCC1, just 7 months after prototype commissioning at ECN2 site, installed in Wieringermeer, Netherlands. Following the power curve certification obtained in March this year, this key milestone proves the machine's overall efficiency, with over 450 ECO 122 2.7 MW wind turbines ordered for a total of more than 1.8 GW.

An extensive measurement campaign, with about 1,000 hours of collected data, to test the power quality, noise curve, in addition to the power performance aimed not only certification, but also to exceed standards requirements of the next generation of large, high-powered turbines suitable for medium and low wind sites.

The ECO 122 is the latest evolution of Alstom's proven ECO 100 turbine platform and the result of more than 30 years of experience in wind turbine design. The machine has one of the biggest rotor diameters within the 2 MW to 3 MW onshore turbine market segment. It combines high power and high capacity factor to boost energy yield in low or medium winds sites with a strong wind shear. Available in two versions, a new 3 MW model will be added to its actual 2.7 MW in 2015.

"We are proud to reach this important milestone in the development of our wind turbine. These measurements and test work aim to bring added value to our customers by boosting wind farm profitability and reducing installation, operations and maintenance costs", stated Alstom Senior Vice President of the Wind business Yves Rannou.
