The depreciation of the Japanese Yen and the Euro dollar presses module price in USD term because Japanese and European PV system installers require lower module price to compensate their exchange losses. In China, the recovery of Chinese domestic demand is not strong enough to raise module price.

Overall module price drops moderately or keeps stable this week. The depreciation of the Japanese Yen and the Euro dollar presses module price in USD term because Japanese and European PV system installers require lower module price to compensate their exchange losses. In China, the recovery of Chinese domestic demand is not strong enough to raise the module price sharply. Therefore, overall module price cut pressure increases.


Overall cell price remains stable this week. Taiwanese and Chinese cell makers have intention to increase their cell price this week because wafer makers are trying to increase their wafer prices. However, module makers dont accept the increase of cell price as overall module price decreases and the recovery of Chinese domestic demand is not strong enough. As such, the increase of cell price is limited.

Multi wafer price increase slightly this week as 2nd grade polysilicon price increases and Chinese major wafer makers strategically increase their wafer price. However, multi wafer price only rises moderately because demand on multi wafers is not good enough to boost multi wafer price strongly. On the other hand, mono wafer price falls moderately this week since the decrease of module price in Japan, EU and US, as aforementioned, puts price cut pressure on mono wafer makers.

PV grade polysilicon price maintains flat this week as Chinese domestic demand on PV grade polysilicon is stable. In addition, because the polysilicon processing for trade handbook will become invalid after 31st December in China, 2nd grade polysilicon sellers increase their prices gradually. But, the slight increase of wafer price limits that 2nd grade polysilicon sellers raise the price further. As such, 2nd grade polysilicon price increases moderately this week.
