EDF Renewable Services Enters Into Balance of Plant Contract for Mesquite Creek Wind

The 118 General Electric (GE) 1.7 MW turbines are expected to be fully operational and generating renewable energy in the second quarter of 2015.

SAN DIEGO--EDF Renewable Services has entered into a Balance of Plant (BOP) contract with Sumitomo Corporation of Americas to provide BOP services for the Mesquite Creek Wind facility. Currently under construction, the 200 megawatt (MW) project is located in Dawson and Borden Counties, Texas. The 118 General Electric (GE) 1.7 MW turbines are expected to be fully operational and generating renewable energy in the second quarter of 2015.

Under the terms of the agreement, EDF Renewable Services will provide the operations and maintenance services for the facility, including the collection system, substation, transformers, transmission lines, switchgear, equipment, machinery, fiber optic cables for the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, control systems, communication systems, foundations, poles, O&M facility, and roads.

Dalen Copeland, Director of Business Development for EDF Renewable Services, commented, "EDF Renewable Services looks forward to deploying our depth of experience to assist our valued customer in achieving operational expectations. With a growing workforce in Texas we can optimize our services and technical strength in the region. We are pleased to partner with Sumitomo and be a part of their global commitment to sustaining the environment through the ownership of renewable projects."

The remote services will be performed by EDF Renewable Services' NERC compliant Operations Control Center (OCC). The OCC provides an efficient, reliable, and secure operating platform, while benefiting from the centralization of SCADA functions and consolidation of multiple vendor SCADA environments to provide a common operating view.
