BOULDER, COLORADO: Namasté Solar, a Colorado employee-owned cooperative that designs, installs, and maintains solar electric systems for residential, commercial, non-profit, and government customers throughout the United States, announced that February 2015 marks the company's 10th anniversary of its founding.

Ten years ago, Blake Jones returned home to Colorado with the intention to start his own solar company after working for three years in the solar electric industry in Nepal. Toward the end of 2004, as Colorado's historic Amendment 37 passed, Blake and his co-founders, Ray Tuomey and Wes Kennedy, finalized their shared vision for starting an employee-owned, transparent, and democratic company whose purpose was to benefit all of its stakeholders, not just its stockholders. After choosing a company name that was meaningful to all the partners, Namasté Solar was officially incorporated in February 2005.

"Namasté Solar's tenth anniversary is a tremendous milestone for our company. Over the past ten years, we have installed over 3,000 solar electric systems; far exceeding what we thought was possible during the first years of the company," said Blake Jones, CEO of Namasté Solar. "Our employee-owned and democratic business model has played a huge role in our success over the last decade. While the industry has changed in significant ways since Namasté Solar was founded, our mission has always been the same, to propagate the responsible use of solar energy, pioneer conscientious business practices, and create holistic wealth for ourselves and our community."

Namasté Solar has received several awards for the company's innovative business model and unique work environment, such as, Outside Magazine's Best Places to Work (2013-2014); WorldBlu's Most Democratic Workplace (2010-2014); B Lab's Best for the World (2012-2014); U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year (2011), Boulder Chamber of Commerce's Best Places to Work (2010), Denver Business Journal's Best Places to Work (2009), and a #56 ranking in Inc. Magazine's Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies (2009). Some of Namasté Solar's most notable solar projects to date have included the Denver Housing Authority, New Belgium Brewing Company, the Colorado Convention Center, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Boulder Community Hospital, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

While Namasté Solar has thrived in the state of Colorado over the last ten years, the company is expanding its commercial project services outside of the state, developing projects in other areas of the country that will benefit from commercial scale solar electricity. With its excellent reputation and ten-year track record, Namasté Solar believes it will be well poised to offer its national clients the same great customer service and quality work that the Colorado market has known since the company's founding.

"The last ten years have been crucial in building a successful future for the next ten years and beyond. To all of Namasté Solar's employee-owners, customers, investors, partners, and supporters, both past and present, it has been a fantastic ten years and we thank you for your all of your contributions to both Namasté Solar and our shared mission. Together we are changing the way America views solar energy, and we are proving that there's a better way to do business than the conventional norm," said Jones.

Namasté Solar will be holding various events throughout the year in honor of their ten year anniversary, and look forward to sharing this achievement with their customers and community all year long.
