Reno, Nevada, USA: The Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) has announced more details of events at the worlds largest annual geothermal conference at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Reno, Nevada, USA.

In addition to the main event of the GRC Annual Meeting & GEA Geothermal Energy Expo taking place September 20-23, 2015, there will be two workshops and two field trips before the conference and one field trip just after.

The two pre-event geothermal workshops will be held over two days. Drilling & Risk Mitigation and Practical Aspects and Applications of Geochemistry will take place on September 18 and 19, before the start of the main geothermal event.

The GRC Workshop presentations will be given by experts from private industry, national laboratories and universities, and should prove valuable for anyone interested in learning about the latest exciting developments in geothermal energy.

In addition, there will be two pre-event and one post-meeting field trip. There will be a one-day trip to Ormats Steamboat Geothermal Power Plant complex located just south of Reno and a two-day journey into the Great Basin and the 72 MW McGinness Hills geothermal power plant led by Nevada State Geologist Jim Faulds. The two-day post-meeting field trip will look at the active geology of the LongValley, just east of Yosemite, including the MammothLakes geothermal power plant.

Throughout the meeting there will also be guided tours of the direct use system at the Peppermill Hotel, the only resort in the United States whose heating source is totally provided from geothermal energy produced on the immediate property.

The GRC Annual Meeting & GEA Geothermal Energy Expo is the industrys largest annual gathering of leading geothermal energy scientists, producers, renewable energy industry stakeholders, regulators, utilities, and key associated business leaders. The four-day event will offer technical, policy, and market conference sessions, educational seminars, tours of local geothermal and renewable energy projects, a trade show and numerous networking opportunities.

Registration for the GRC Annual Meeting will open in July and will also include entry to the GEA Expo. Room reservations can now be made on the GRC website at www.geothermal.org. A discounted room rate at two hotels is available until August 28, so early reservations are recommended.
