Austin, Texas Elementary School Powered By Solar Thanks To Circular Energy

Circular Energy designed and installed a 245 kW solar power system for the Jamie D. Padron Elementary School in Austin, Texas. The project will deliver over $1 million dollars in cumulative savings over the 25-year system lifetime and solar panel warranty period.

Completed in August 2014, Jamie D. Padron Elementary School is one of the most cutting-edge educational institutions in Austin. The 143,143-square-foot school houses 57 classrooms and six common areas. The facility was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and a three-star rating from the Austin Energy Green Building Program.

AISD voted to include solar with the construction of the school to achieve the desired sustainability ratings, along with financial and socially conscious reasons.

As a result, this Austin, Texas elementary school has been producing over 342,000 kWh each year of their own clean, renewable solar power, and they are on track to offset more than 6,000 tons of CO2 over a 25 year period.

"Circular Energy did a fantastic job on the installation of this photovoltaic system for the AISD Padron Elementary School project. From the very beginning, the team worked diligently to make sure that the project was a success. Although they provided references and examples of similar projects, this was our first project with Circular Energy and we did not know what to expect.

Circular not only completed the install, but did so quickly and helped us meet a tight deadline. Their crew was timely and courteous. I appreciated the hard work and knowledge of Circular Energy on the photovoltaic system and their quality of installation. They are dedicated, knowledgeable, and easy to work with," said Brady Lenamon, Project Manager of Flintco, the commercial contractor responsible for design and construction of the school.

Padron Elementary Schools solar power system will produce over $54,000 dollars worth of power each year, with over $1 million dollars in cumulative savings expected over the 25-year system lifetime and solar panel warranty period.

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide - the ultimate solution for fast and easy installation of the rail-less RockIt racking system on composition shingle roofs. Smart Slide conforms to UL 441 and TAS 100 (A)-95 for wind and wind-driven rain, providing a super-strong watertight seal that is achieved through compression, in most cases without the need for additional sealant. The waterproofing sealant is embedded deep into the granules of the shingle, thanks to the integrated flexible foam layer that provides cushioning. This ensures a secure fit that conforms to any architectural-style shingle. With UltraGrip Technology™, you can rely on a secure installation, as it absorbs the movement created by thermal expansion and contraction. The pre-installed sealing pads are compatible with all composition shingle roofs, making it the ideal choice, even in ambient temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
