GreenTec Awards call for entries

Europes biggest environmental and business prize kicks off the next round

2016‘s competition has started. We are again looking for projects and products with a high degree of innovation that set benchmarks in environmental technology. Until October 15, 2015 everybody can apply: from start-up to global player, from private person to research team. Submissions from abroad are particularly welcome.

Berlin, September 2, 2015 - The application period for 2016s GreenTec Awards is on. Environmentally friendly technical innovations that combine sustainability and economic efficiency are wanted. 2016's competition features the following categories: Automobility, Construction & Living, Energy, Galileo Wissenspreis (ProSieben), Green Office by KYOCERA (endowed with 25,000€), Lifestyle, Aviation, Production, Recycling & Resources, Travel, as well as Water & Sewage.

A top-class jury composed of 70 notable representatives from the economy, science and the entertainment industry evaluates the projects. Moreover, one out of three nominees per category is determined by a public online voting. The winners will be elected during a jury meeting. The whole competition process will be certified by TÜV NORD again. The prize giving ceremony will take place in the course of a glamorous gala well-covered by the media on May 29, 2016 in Munich and will open the world's leading environmental technology fair IFAT. Just like in previous years, the planning and realization of the GreenTec Awards will be 100 percent climate-neutral.

Tessa Wernik, Communications Director at Fairphone and winner of 2015s ProSiebenSat.1 Accelerator Startup Prize, about the victory and the prize giving ceremony: "We feel honored receiving this award and it was motivating to talk to all these people who consider our project worth supporting."

GreenTec Awards initiator Marco Voigt emphasizes the international dimension: "We will continue internationalizing the Awards step by step to reach even more products and people. Last year 15 percent of the applications came from abroad and by cooperating with the renowned International Cleantech Network this year we want to further increase the international scope."
