SPI 15 - Vice President Joe Biden to Deliver Remarks at North America’s Largest Solar Power Trade Show

Trade Show Begins Monday, September 14 in Anaheim Vice President to Deliver Remarks on Wednesday, September 16

ANAHEIM, CALIF. - Vice President Joe Biden will deliver remarks at Solar Power International (SPI), Sept. 14-17, 2015 in Anaheim, Calif. Confirmed earlier this week by the Office of the Vice President, Biden's remarks will be part of the Wednesday, Sept. 16 General Session.

SPI is the largest solar power trade show in North America, with over 600 exhibitors and 15,000 attendees. This year's event includes more than 100 educational sessions and an Expo Hall with hundreds of exhibitors.

Continuing on its record-breaking trajectory, the United States solar industry surpassed 20 gigawatts (GW) of total operational solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity during the second quarter of this year. According to GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association's (SEIA) Q2 2015 U.S. Solar Market Insight Report, the U.S. installed 1,393 megawatts of PV last quarter, showcasing both annual and quarterly growth.

Against this backdrop of dramatic growth, the Vice President will deliver remarks at SPI, becoming the first sitting Vice President to address any solar conference in North America.

Kipp & Zonen - DustIQ the novel soiling monitoring solution for solar panels

Soiling of the panel glass is one of the major problems in the rapidly expanding solar energy market, with the attendant loss of efficiency and reduction in performance ratios. Now, there's a new, simple and very cost-effective alternative. Based on Kipp & Zonen's unique Optical Soiling Measurement (OSM) technology, DustIQ can be easily added to new or existing solar arrays and integrated into plant management systems. The unit is mounted to the frame of a PV panel and does not need sunlight to operate. It continuously measures the transmission loss through glass caused by soiling, so that the reduction in light reaching the solar cells can be calculated.
