DYNAPOWER TO SUPPLY NEWLY DESIGNED ENERGY STORAGE INVERTER FOR 1 MW ECOULT BATTERY SYSTEM

The Ecoult system will be installed in the PJM grid-operating region, and is scheduled for commissioning in mid-2016.

South Burlington, Vermont - October 13, 2015 - Dynapower Company, the global leader in energy storage inverters, announced that it is supplying a newly designed 1 MW energy storage inverter to Ecoult as part of an Ecoult UltraBattery installation.

The inverter is a 1 MW model from Dynapowers new Generation 3 Compact Power System (CPS™) product line, designed to provide greater power density and performance at competitive price points. The Ecoult system will be installed in the PJM grid-operating region, and is scheduled for commissioning in mid-2016.

Dynapowers CPS-1000 inverter is a field-ready product built on the highly successful track record of the companys existing line of CPS inverters. The 1 MW PJM deployment will provide ancillary services such as frequency regulation, peak shaving, and emergency back-up power, and feature Dynapowers proven, patent pending, Dynamic Transfer functionality, which is a seamless transfer from grid to standalone mode for backup power. Ecoult selected the Dynapower system based on the companys technological strengths, proven performance, and long-term viability.

Ecoults energy storage solution is powered by DEKA UltraBattery® technology - a unique hybrid lead-acid and ultra-capacitor cell - and is engineered as a flexible and scalable grid-ready platform for energy storage systems. It comprises nine product modules, including battery blocks and inverters, system management and monitoring, user maintenance options and more.

Ecoult CEO John Wood said that the installation would be a major milestone for energy storage: "It will show that UltraBattery lead-acid technology now brings with it the capability to combine active cycling - and with it the potential for ancillary services revenue or renewable optimization - to on-grid backup battery systems. Ecoult is thrilled to once again work with the dedicated and professional team at Dynapower to deliver this exciting project."
