EES EUROPE AWARD 2016: SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION BY MARCH 24

For the third time running, the award is presented for outstanding innovations in energy storage.

Munich, January 13, 2015 - A great marketing tool for the winners and an indicator for the industry as a whole: The ees AWARD will be presented on June 22, 2016 for the third time running at ees Europe, the continents largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems. The award celebrates outstanding products and solutions for energy storage technology in the areas of materials, production, systems technology, applications, second-use concepts and recycling. Intersolar Europe, the worlds leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners, is taking place parallel to ees Europe in Munich. All companies set to exhibit at one of the worldwide ees or Intersolar events in 2016 are eligible to apply for the ees AWARD.

Batteries und energy storage systems are cornerstones in the energy transition: They are essential for optimizing on-site consumption and ensuring that power grids remain efficient and safe. Innovative storage technologies make it possible to decouple the generation of clean power from consumption, thereby easing the burden on the grids. Storage systems are also a mainstay of future e-mobility. The German government aims to have one million electric cars on the countrys roads by 2020, which would position Germany as the leading e-mobility market and supplier. Independent of this, the global market for lithium-ion cells also continues to grow. In a study published in spring 2015, the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) forecasts that the market will grow to approximately 15 billion euros by 2020. Future generations of cells therefore represent a promising area of development.

The market is booming and accordingly, the organizers of ees are set to present the ees AWARD this coming year for the third time running. The winners will be announced as part of an official ceremony on June 22, 2016 at the Innovation and Application Forum at Intersolar Europe, which is taking place at the same time in Munich. Additionally, during the exhibition all finalists have the opportunity to present their solutions to an international audience in the presentation area of the ees Forum. This way they profit as much as the winner from the media and public attention that the exhibition and the award attract - 464 accredited members of the press attended ees and Intersolar Europe in 2015.

About ees
The global ees exhibition series is the industry meeting point, bringing together manufacturers, distributors, users and suppliers of stationary and mobile electricity storage systems. The ees exhibitions are co-organized with Intersolar, the leading exhibition series for the solar industry.
The ees exhibitions and accompanying ees Conferences are dedicated to renewable energy storage solutions, from residential and commercial applications to large-scale storage systems for stabilizing the grid. Other focal points are the topics of energy management, e-mobility and uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

With ees Europe in Munich, ees North America in San Francisco and ees India in Mumbai, ees is represented on three continents. ees Europe is the continents largest exhibition with the greatest number of visitors for the battery and energy storage industry. More than 158 exhibitors took part in ees Europe 2015 (326 companies together with energy storage exhibitors at Intersolar Europe) and approx. 38,000 visitors from 165 countries flocked to Munich.

Partners of ees Europe
ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association), EUROBAT (the Association of European Automotive and Industrial Battery Manufacturers), Naatbatt (the National Alliance for Advanced Technology Batteries), and BSW-Solar (German Solar Association).
