Industry-leading experts to give keynotes at #POWER-GEN Europe and Renewable Energy World Europe

Opening keynote session on 21st June will provide expert power industry insight

POWER-GEN Europe and Renewable Energy World Europe, the leading conference and exhibition for the international power and renewable industries taking place at the MiCo Milano, Italy from 21st to 23rd June 2016, has announced the first two opening keynote session speakers.


Enrico Viale, Head of Global Generation, Enel Group, Italy, and Dr. Iulian Iancu, President of the Industry & Services Commission in the Chamber of Deputies in Romania and President of the Romanian National Committee, World Energy Council, will take to the stand to present their keynotes on Europes power industry on the first day of the show.

The highly anticipated keynote speeches will reflect the theme of this years show - ‘Delivering an Integrated Energy Future. Further keynote speeches will be announced in the coming weeks.

"This years keynote speakers will deliver expert insight on the current status of Europes power industry and the future of the sector," says Nigel Blackaby, POWER-GEN Europe Conference Director. "Enel we will provide the perspective from inside Italys energy industry - the home of POWER-GEN Europe - while Dr Iancu will provide the viewpoint from an EU member country in Central Europe.

"To achieve an integrated system, Europes energy industry must be flexible. This means flexible in terms of the power we deliver, and also in terms of our willingness to re-structure the sector. These keynote sessions offer the chance for attendees to gain exclusive insight from our continents experts, and learn about the new opportunities change offers."

In recognition of the events importance to the electricity supply industry and energy efficiency, this years conference and exhibition has the official Patronage of Italys Ministry of Economic Development, under newly appointed Minister Carlo Calenda.

POWER-GEN Europe will also play host to the launch of a new report from the World Energy Council, "Variable Renewables Electricity System Integration."

Keynote bios

Dr. Iulian Iancu
In his capacity as President of the Industry & Services Commission, Dr. Iancu is responsible for drafting legislation in the industrial and services sector. From 2002 to 2004 he was Secretary of State, responsible for the management of the energy sector, mining, gas and petroleum in the Ministry of Industry & Resources, during which time he coordinated Romanias national strategy on renewable energy. Prior to that, Dr. Iancu was President of the gas regulatory authority in Romania, and Deputy CEO in SNGN ROMGAZ, which implemented investment projects in natural gas.

He holds a doctorate in Economical Sciences Management, an MBA and trained as an oil and gas engineer. He has authored many papers on renewable energy and power and gas legislation.

Enrico Viale
Enrico Viale was appointed the Enel Group's Head of Global Generation in July 2014.

After nine years at Ansaldo Energia and eight years at ABB in Italy and Switzerland, Mr Viale joined Enel in 2003 as Country Manager of Southeastern Europe and CEO of Enel Maritza East 3, where he headed up a number of development projects and operational activities in conventional and renewable energy generation, as well as in distribution, in Bulgaria, Rumania and Greece.

Between 2008 and 2014 he was in Russia, first as COO, managing Enel's interests in OGK-5 and Rusenergosbyt and supporting SeverEnergia's upstream gas operations, before becoming Country Manager and CEO of Enel Russia.
Mr Viale has a degree in Engineering from Turin Polytechnic, which he followed up with post-graduate studies in the United States, earning himself an MBA at the Santa Clara University's School of Business.
