Greentech Media's Grid Edge World Forum and European Utility Week Partnership Brings New Opportunities to US and European Utilities

Grid Edge World Forum and European Utility Week to host the first-ever utility exchange program for greater knowledge sharing and business opportunities

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Grid Edge World Forum, the leading conference and exhibition on tomorrows distributed energy system in the U.S., is announcing a partnership with European Utility Week (EUW). The partnership brings a utility exchange program to each event to foster meaningful knowledge sharing between U.S. and European utilities.

Grid Edge World Forum, (https://www.greentechmedia.com/events/live/grid-edge-world-forum-2017) taking place on June 27-29 2017 in San Jose, California, is the only conference and exhibition focused exclusively on the innovations enabling the energy system of the future. The proliferation of distributed energy resources and shift toward a more dynamic and transactive grid is increasingly becoming a global trend and is challenging utility business models across geographies.

"The U.S. is partner country at this years EUW, so this collaboration cant come at a better time for us," said Rick Wall, Managing Director, Global Utility Group for Clarion Events Group. "As part of the partnership, EUW will organize an International pavilion at Grid Edge World Forum and bring out a large European delegation of utilities to attend the event."

There is a heightened interest from European utilities in the developments taking place in the U.S. market regarding renewable and distributed energy, investment and affordability, and the expanded role of the energy customer. This exchange will support European and U.S. utilities in their efforts to develop their business models to better reflect the evolution of a more distributed energy system.

"We will also organize several site visits in the California region so that our European delegation of utilities will be able to visit local U.S. utilities and innovative players in the energy ecosystem," said Wall. "The interest from our European utility community has been substantial especially as this program will help facilitate knowledge sharing and best practises amongst utilities on an international level."

For its part, Grid Edge World Forum will be bringing a U.S. utility delegation to EUW, being held October 3-5, 2017 in Amsterdam this year, as part of a week-long program including peer-to-peer meetings with European utilities and other organizations. Grid Edge World Forum will also promote the U.S. Pavilion at EUW so U.S. companies can benefit from showcasing their solutions to more than 12,000 smart energy professionals.

"Attendees at Grid Edge World Forum will benefit from the increased presence of global utilities and international technology providers provided through this partnership, and we are delighted to host our first ever delegation of U.S. utilities to Europe during EUW," said Scott Clavenna, CEO, Greentech Media. "Our U.S. utilities will be able to meet with and visit some of the larger Dutch utilities and benefit from seeing how the smart city of Amsterdam utilizes smarter solutions and technologies."

This partnership is the first of many in which EUW will help bridge the gap between European and other utilities worldwide.
