The build-up to All-Energy 2017 (Glasgow, 10-11 May) sees the announcement that not only will Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon MSP be taking part in the opening plenary session on 10 May, but two other Scottish Government Ministers will be at the UK's largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference being held at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC - formerly SECC).

The build-up to All-Energy 2017 (Glasgow, 10-11 May) sees the announcement that not only will Scotlands First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon MSP be taking part in the opening plenary session on 10 May, but two other Scottish Government Ministers will be at the UKs largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference being held at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC - formerly SECC).

Humza Yousaf MSP, Minister for Transport and the Islands will speak in the co-located Smart Urban Mobility Solutions conference on 10 May; and on 11 May Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Scotlands Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy will deliver a keynote address in the plenary session looking at the effects of Brexit on the renewable and low carbon energy sectors. The plenary sessions on both mornings take place before the conference divides into various of the 24 themes running through 55 free-to-attend conference sessions, and day-long ‘quick fire seminar theatre programmes.

"We are delighted to be providing a platform for so many Ministers," says Event Director, Jonathan Heastie of event organisers, Reed Exhibitions. "They join industry luminaries in our programme - and include Keith Anderson, Chief Corporate Officer of ScottishPower and Chief Executive Officer of ScottishPower Renewables; Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal and Vice Chancellor of Strathclyde University; Prof Jim Watson of UKERC; Benj Sykes, UK Country Manager, DONG Energy Wind Power; Matthew Knight, Director of Energy Strategy and Government Affairs, Siemens UK; Iain Watson, Director, UK Green Investment Bank; Jonathan Cole, Managing Director, Offshore Iberdrola Renewables Offshore Wind Division; Tim Cornelius, Chairman of MeyGen and CEO of Atlantis Resources; and so many more!

"Indeed, there are some 400 speakers over the two days, all experts in the topics they are addressing, some in very senior positions, some handling day-to-day engineering challenges; and academics at every level - indeed this year we have a record number of academic posters.

"We also have up to 400 exhibiting companies from 16 countries ranging from ‘A for the Advanced Forming Research Centre, Aggreko, Ansys and others to ‘Z for Zephir LiDAR and representing virtually every letter of the alphabet in-between. Our 15 sector-specific trails will help visitors find those of most relevance to them, as will our dedicated areas of the show - the Heat Zone, the Energy Storage Zone, and our new co-located event Smart Urban Mobility Solutions in which an ever-growing number of low carbon vehicles will be on display ranging from Teslas and BMWs to two bespoke vehicles built for the Shell Eco-marathon by students from the University of the West of Scotland and University of Strathclyde.

Registrations coming in thick and fast
"I am glad to say that registrations to attend All-Energy are coming in thick and fast - indeed we are at very much the same stage as we were three weeks before the show last year when we ended up with close on 7,000 individuals attending over the two days. Everyone appreciates the fact that our major exhibition, the conference, associated events and our Giant Networking Evening are free to attend for all with relevant business/professional interests.

"Looking at completed registration forms, it is rewarding to see that nearly half expect their next renewable energy project within the next six months, and the vast majority come to the show in order to network and meet new people in order to create new opportunities, and to gather industry knowledge and learn thanks to conference presentations. Naturally too they are interested to visit the exhibition to see what is new and interesting in the industry. All these reasons add up to the busy and buzzy atmosphere we create for the two days."

Online registration and further information on all aspects of All-Energy 2017 and Smart Urban Mobility Solutions (SUMS 2017) is available at www.all-energy.co.uk and www.smarturbanmobilitysolutions.com.

All-Energy is held in association with the Renewable Energy Association (REA); Highlands and Islands Enterprise; Scottish Enterprise; Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) and host city Glasgow. The Society for Underwater Technology is the shows learned society patron. A further 40 organisations including government departments, professional bodies and trade associations act as supporters of the two-day annual event, and Shepherd and Wedderburn is the Headline Sponsor.

Shepherd and Wedderburn is also sponsoring SUMS 2017s and it is held with Transport Scotland, ITS United Kingdom, the Energy Saving Trust, Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce as its supporting organisations.
