Interview - Installing Solar Systems in California
Gary Gerber - Sun Light & Power

The Maine Wind Industry Initiative
Wind power development doesn't deal with a single industry. There are steel workers, engineers, precision manufactures, boat builders, construction crews, composite technologies, and marine technologies. The Maine Wind Industry Initiative brings these partners under one roof, so that they can network and solve problems working together.

The Solar Power Paradox: Alternative Energy Can’t Run on Oil
Traditional backsheets, the protective covering on solar cells, are produced mainly from polyester and Tedlar films. Both of these products defeat the purpose of clean, green energy, and as the demand for solar energy increases, so does this issue.

Fuel Cells Enlist in Armed Forces
Fuel cells are of particular interest to the military not for their environmental savings, but because of unique technical features that can aid soldiers in the field.

Offshore Wind
Not a single kilowatt of offshore wind has been developed, despite it being a stronger and more consistent energy source than its counterpart on land, closer to large populations where the energy is needed, and already proven commercial technology.

DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions portfolio of PV materials is key to crystalline silicon and thin film solar cell and module manufacturing. Our products help increase the efficiency and lifetime of solar modules.

>>> Hot Story
From designer Haneum Lee comes a concept that would power street lights from the energy generated by the trash collected from its base. The lamppost composts the trash and uses the methane byproduct as a fuel to power the lamps. I'm not sure how much trash is needed to power a full side street lamp or if today mostly plastic and paper garbage are well suited for composting but its a novel idea.>>> more hot stories

The Ultimate Photovoltaic Charge Controller

Patented Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology allows Solar Boost 2000E to increase charge current up to 30% or more compared to conventional charge controllers. Don't waste money by throwing PV power away! Get the power you paid for with a Solar Boost charge controller. The Solar Boost 2000E provides a precision Multi-stage Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) charge control system to ensure the battery is properly and fully charged, resulting in enhanced battery performance with less battery maintenance. An equalize function is also included to periodically condition liquid electrolyte lead-acid batteries.
