GIA announces the release of a comprehensive global report on the wind energy markets. The global installed capacity of wind energy is forecast to reach 1,062 thousand megawatt by the year 2017. Major factors driving growth in the global wind energy market include depleting natural resources, volatile crude oil prices, concerns on climate change, and rising demand for energy worldwide. Growth in the global market would be led by developing regions, primarily Asia-Pacific, with China and India increasingly becoming power hungry, driven by the rising energy needs in these countries in tandem with the increasing economic growth. The uncertainty and unrest in the energy sector, rapidly depleting natural resources, together with the political pressures and environmental issues, are shedding the light on the rapidly evolving role of clean technologies, such as wind power.
