Despite the fact that solar panels are quickly becoming a commodity — cheap and uniform — it looks like investors are still willing to put a small amount of funding into the next-generation of solar equipment. Three startup solar makers have raised funds over the past week or so — two that make concentrating solar technology and one that makes crystalline silicon solar cells. Last week Solexel, which uses silicon gas to make solar wafers, closed on $25 million in funding, according to a filing. Bloomberg reported on the deal and said that the funds would be used to build a pilot plant in California, which would be a testing ground for a larger commercial plant in Malaysia. Solar panel maker SunPower participated in the round, as did venture investors Kleiner Perkins, Technology Partners and DAG Ventures, reported Bloomberg.

Market and technology leader for distributed solar power optimization continues its successful growth
Since the announcement that 18 PV projects were awarded in the first wave of South Africa's Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) in December 2011, independent power producers have been working behind the scenes to secure backing from both local and international financiers.
During a recent PV Insider podcast, Tarun Kapoor, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of India; provided an outlook about the current situation and future developments of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
The National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) concluded in a report that increased investment and support for the manufacturing industry is necessary for the National Solar Mission to truly "unleash its potential".
Clenergy's product family proudly includes four roof mounting systems and one ground mounting system already accredited byTüVInterCert (Germany). Approval by TüV InterCert is further proof that the design and manufacture of Clenergy PV-ezRack Mounting System meet or exceed international levels.
NRG's Electric Car Charging Network Creating New Jobs in California
The World Green Energy Symposium (WGES) will be held in Washington DC on June 21, 2012. WGES draws (from and to Washington DC)top sustainable energy experts from both the public and the private sector to provide information on policies, case studies, innovations, contracting & funding opportunities.
Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett has said the State's electricity market is one of the smallest in the world and retail competition for households isn't needed and is planning to reverse competitive reforms and remerge two Government-owned energy utilities.
Recent criticism of schemes to promote installation of domestic roof top solar is justified - schemes have been poorly designed and managed and suffered from cost overruns. But the fault is not with solar, is is the scheme governance at fault. Nevertheless renewable energy takes the blame.
We are pleased that are NRG 60 panels performed so well in this independent measurement program

The SolarEdge PV inverter combines sophisticated digital control technology with efficient power conversion architecture to achieve superior solar power harvesting and best-in-class reliability. The fixed-voltage technology ensures the solar inverter is always working at its optimal input voltage over a wider range of string lengths and regardless of environmental conditions. A proprietary data monitoring receiver has been integrated into the inverter and aggregates the power optimizer performance data from each PV module. This data can be transmitted to the web and accessed via the SolarEdge Monitoring Portal for performance analysis, fault detection and troubleshooting of PV systems.
