Hawaii's Oldest Country Club Gets a New Source of Power

The one-piece FR510 requires no assembly, and it's universal design allowed HEC to install two different models of PV modules, with the same simple and intuitive installation procedure.

Solar Panels Bring Light To 'Devon Darkness' Ale

Energy monitoring helps match brewery's requirements to ideal solar system.

Five Myths About Solar Power - And The Real Facts

What we are witnessing is in reality a traditional consolidation phase in a new and fledging industry, with winners and losers, and with the surviving players facing a bright and profitable future.

Key Challenges Google's Project Sunroof May Face

Whether Google's Project Sunroof will be a hit or a miss, only time will tell. Nevertheless, the technology is brilliant and this move from Google could make this firm a leading one in the global solar industry.

Float Zone Silicon Solar Panels - 60% less expensive and 25% more efficient

By conducting ion implantation with a particle accelerator, Rayton can produce 20 solar panels using 20x less silicon than what is typically used to create just one.

Record Levels of Solar Power Production Were Seen on a Global Scale During the Year 2014

This has coincided with the UK oil and gas industries posting record loses in profitability during the same time frame.

Book Discussion - Harness the Sun

For a long time, solar power was viewed as a privilege reserved for the elite. Today there are lots of ways to make solar affordable to homeowners pretty much across the income spectrum.

The Efficient Use of Concentrating Solar Power Technology

Many concentrated solar power plants could be built within the next several years. A single plant can generate 250 megawatts or more, which is enough to power about 90,000 homes.

Corporate Demand for Renewable Energy is Increasing

Multinational corporations want access to global solutions that help them document their commitment to electricity from renewable energy sources.

Q2 2015 Deal Volume Comparison

The majority of sectors within the solar energy industry are still exhibiting lower than optimal bottom line margins. However, certain sectors are now beginning to see slight margin improvements generated from continued improvements in balance of system costs, industry consolidation and continued growth for solar in certain geographies.

The Bright Idea Behind Power Classes

In order to avoid costs for AC panel upgrades, it makes sense for inverter manufacturers to provide power classes that get the most solar power on an existing customer's AC panel without upgrading it.

IBM Uses Machine Learning to Boost Solar for Dept of Energy

While other solar forecasting systems take more narrow location and timeframe views, what's different about the IBM approach is that we incorporate a great number of weather and solar energy prediction models. We then blend those using historical data as a function of weather situation, forecast horizon and location to create what we call a supermodel.

The future of solar Feed-in Tariffs in the UK

We're extremely close to reaching the point at which renewable electricity costs as little to generate as electricity from fossil fuels, so it's imperative that we don't take a backward step.

Kipp & Zonen - DustIQ the novel soiling monitoring solution for solar panels

Soiling of the panel glass is one of the major problems in the rapidly expanding solar energy market, with the attendant loss of efficiency and reduction in performance ratios. Now, there's a new, simple and very cost-effective alternative. Based on Kipp & Zonen's unique Optical Soiling Measurement (OSM) technology, DustIQ can be easily added to new or existing solar arrays and integrated into plant management systems. The unit is mounted to the frame of a PV panel and does not need sunlight to operate. It continuously measures the transmission loss through glass caused by soiling, so that the reduction in light reaching the solar cells can be calculated.
